I like both of those points NAHSTE and Rush, here was something my girlfriend and I also discussed that was weird (provided we understood it correctly):

They do seem to come up with a lot of excuses as to why a TON of people they're investigating just go missing.Comment

It's already a proven fact in life that you'll be hooked to Dexter, just like the finders keepers law of America. Heard the government was trying to regulate it already. Bastards.

Here is something similar to the hotel thing that bothered me:
Liddy saw Dexter and Lumen dumping bags into the harbor, bags that he figured could have a body in it ... In this TV universe, was there not a huge news story just a year or two ago about bodies being found in the Harbor? Why wouldn't Liddy/Quinn ever put those two together that maybe this is the still at-large Bay Harbor Butcher? That's what is really starting to bother me about this show. Every time Dexter comes close to being caught, he gets out of it at the last second, which is cool, but there is no cumulative effect. All of the circumstantial evidence from seasons 1-4 would be enough for SOMEONE to put it together at this point, or at least you'd think, but the events and information of one season don't ever carry over to the next. Also mad that they dropped the storyline of Deb looking up dirt on her dad. All she had to do was find out that the Ice Truck Killer is Dex's brother and the dominoes would start to fall. I guess they are just waiting for the final season for all that good shit though.
Also Deb already knows that the Ice Truck Killer is Dex's brother in a prior season. So Dexter sort went through the motions and was like "So... I guess he used you to try and get to me?"Comment

They figured that James Doaks was the Bay Harbor Butcher and that was after season 2, which in real Dexter time I believe was 3 years prior. I don't hold that against the show.

But hey, it's Dexterland. It reminds me of that episode of Futurama where the brains attack the Earth everyone but Fry is a bumbling moron.Comment

I guess that logic works in Dexterland where every is borderline special ed except for Dex and his current nemesis. A normal former cop who saw a dude tossing what he thought were bags into the freaking bay harbor again, would PROBABLY make that not so great leap that maybe this guy was the actual butcher (particularly considering all of the video tape he'd seen of Dex).

At that point he didn't see a body. He just saw Lumen holding the knife and practice killing someone which I believe was actually after he saw them throw those bags into the river. He originally said when Quinn asked him "So what do you thinks in the bag?" He said, "probably narcotics, maybe a body." It's not as obvious as you make it out to be. Remember, this isn't the same place he put the bodies before either. He went further down the river/bay in another spot so that the body would go down the jet stream I believe it's called.Comment

I like both of those points NAHSTE and Rush, here was something my girlfriend and I also discussed that was weird (provided we understood it correctly):
So, Deb leaves to call in the about the cabin in the woods. And because she doesn't want to catch the vigilante, she just calls it in as being discovered as the loaction of the barrel girl murders? REALLY? That's it? That in and of itself wouldn't have been too awful if it wasn't considered the finale and her "closing" the case. I know that this Miami Homicide department is the most incompetent in the history of TV cops, but even this is a stretch. Everyone is happy because they found the spot of the murders and no one cares that this big shot Jordan Chase, just like EVERYONE ELSE INVOLVED in this, has COMPLETELY disappeared? How is this considered a "win" for them? Don't you think that they start to say "Hmmm, A LOT of the guys that commit murders in this city go missing...we don't solve a whole lot of cases. Wonder why that is?" But nope, they just move on. If Rawls was in LeGuerta's place, he'd have gone ape shit on the entire department, and confirmed Dexter as his replacement gaping asshole for McNulty. Shit would have been worked out in about a month.
"Hey look it's the detective who solved the barrel girls case!" Um ... what did she solve? All she 'found', as far as LaGuerta or anyone else knows, was the crime scene.
Also, how stupid is it that since Quinn is cleared of killing Liddy, nobody gives a shit anymore? Nevermind that the surveillance stuff found in his van was registered to Quinn and Quinn likely knows who was being watched. (Which you'd think Angel would jump on, and maybe I don't know, ask Quinn about, given his theory that the killer was whoever Liddy was surveying, but nope, he's just gonna focus on patching up his marriage instead.)
Knowing this show, I'll be shocked if we ever get a clearance for that murder either. Basically, in the Dexter version of Miami homicide, if they are wrong on the first suspect, the case is closed and everyone moves on.
Excellent point on Rawls, he'd be throwing a bitch fit every episode. I'm re-watching season 2 of The Wire and he's ready to fire his two very best detectives if they can't crack one of the biggest clusterfuck murder cases ever ... meanwhile LaGuerta will probably get another promotion from Matthews after failing to solve anything, but only after he dresses her down for being too flamboyantly Cubano first.
I still love Dexter, but I'm seriously reevaluating where it stands in my all-time top 10. Was top 3 after seasons 1 and 2 ... I thought 3 was a bit below par and 4 was right back to being mindblowingly good, but after this, I don't know what to think. Still a fan but this shit needs to get a lot more focused next season.Comment

It pisses me off that they never finished up the santa muerta killers. Deb killed one in the club, what happened to the other guy? That was just a shit storyline, and along with the shit going on with Laguerta and bautista it was a boring first half of the season.
Also, they really didn't go into Jordan Chase's background as much as I would have liked.Comment

Sloppy season overall.
So, they decided not to look in the surrounding water for a murder weapon or evidence or, you know...maybe a lap top that has photographic evidence of it being Dexter that Liddy captured or was watching?
This season was 24-like in the realms of unbelievability.Comment

What a waste of time with Luman. Like said previous, I didn't like the actress, but enjoyed what she represented, and to go through a whole season with her, then she ups and leaves just one day after finishing her quest. Dexter is basically in the same boat as before. Worst season outside of 2. Felt like a giant filler season.
Few things on the season and series in general.
Cops are terrible.
Every single side character is terrible.
Deb gets blamed for the Fuentes shootings and they make a huge deal about it, 2 episodes later Deb is back and nothing happened.
Luman should return as a dead victim to end season 6.
Quinn sure is a pussy whipped bitch, otherwise Dexter would be fucked. Hopefully thats a storyline for season 6.
Liddy goes through all that trouble, yet didn't have a fucking gun? Dont try and kill Dexter with a fucking knife.Comment

Yeah it seems like the only reason they had the Santa Muerte storyline was to put Deb in the file room to re-open the barrel girls case. It just seems like everything that happened this season was for nothing, Dexter's in the same exact spot he was in before the season started.Comment

You're right, this makes much more sense:
Someone puts a black bag in the same general area that the Bay Harbor Butcher did who was found dead in a cabin with dead dismembered bodies.
Him putting the bags in a bay that is somewhat close to where the Butcher put the bodies is overwhelming evidence as opposed to finding a guy who was #1 on your suspect list, fled the country, then was found near a cabin dead near dead dismembered bodies.
So anytime anyone puts a black bag underwater in that bay all of a sudden they are the Bay Harbor Butcher? I hope you're not a detective.Comment
