Don't feel bad, a lot of people have that reaction.

Yeah, its kinda hard to enjoy a movie you've never seen before if you already know the ending.

Agreed, you should see it. Not so sure on that resemblance thing. Since they're all in The Departed, it'll be easy to judge.

Somehow, City of Men has eluded me so far. I'll be getting my hands on it sooner or later.

I wasn't impressed with The Passion. That is partly because I had a predisposition against that racist asshole who directed it. Haha. Anyway, my mom made me watch it before she'd let me watch the Godfather trilogy. Worth it.
For me, it was a powerful movie, more or less so depending on the depth and type of your faith. Of course, this is if you can completely remove Mr. Gibson from your thinking while watching. That said, I don't think I'll ever watch it again. Once was plenty. Now the Godfather trilogy, on the other hand, greatness. Well, at least the first two are.

If, after all that, my view of Children of Men is the only thing you can disagree on, then I think I've done okay. ;)

I've seen 16 of 25 top for the decade, really liked all of them, but probably in a quite different order.

sorry Kuzzy, but Children of Men is a great piece of work. One of the most underrated movies in a long time.

Dell, I love you. I'm not sure what more I can say.

Yes, I know the decade is officially over, but my recapping of it isn’t. From time to time, I’ll duck my head in here and add something else.

This time we’re talking evil folks. Lots of my favorite characters are the bad guys. These are the people we love to hate the most because they make our favorite movies that much better. Here are…

Dell’s Favorite Villains of the Decade

                  10. Alonzo Harris, Training Day
                  The Devilish Quote:
I'm the man up in this piece. You'll never see the light of... who the fuck do you think you're fucking with? I'm the police, I run shit around here. You just live here. Yeah, that's right, you better walk away. Go on and walk away... 'cause I'm gonna' burn this motherfucker down. King Kong ain't got shit on me!

                  9. Patrick Bateman, American Psycho
                  The Devilish Quote:
There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there.

                  8. Jigsaw, Saw series
                  The Devilish Quote:
You're probably wondering where you are. I'll tell you where you might be. You might be in the room that you die in. Up until now, you've simply sat in the shadows watching others live out their lives. But what do voyeurs see when they look into the mirror? Now I see you as a strange mix of someone angry, yet apathetic. But mostly just pathetic. So are you going to watch yourself die here today, Adam, or do something about it?

                  7. Bill “the Butcher” Cutting, Gangs of New York
                  The Devilish Quote:
I'm forty-seven. Forty-seven years old. You know how I stayed alive this long? All these years? Fear. The spectacle of fearsome acts. Somebody steals from me, I cut off his hands. He offends me, I cut out his tongue. He rises against me, I cut off his head, stick it on a pike, raise it high up so all on the streets can see. That's what preserves the order of things. Fear.

                  6. Woo-Jin Lee, Oldboy
                  The Devilish Quote:
I'm going to kill every woman you love until you die. You're notorious for not protecting your women.

                  5. Col. Hans Landa, Inglourious Basterds
                  The Devilish Quote:
Consequently, a German soldier conducts a search of a house suspected of hiding Jews. Where does the hawk look? He looks in the barn, he looks in the attic, he looks in the cellar, he looks everywhere *he* would hide, but there's so many places it would never occur to a hawk to hide. However, the reason the Führer's brought me off my Alps in Austria and placed me in French cow country today is because it does occur to me. Because I'm aware what tremendous feats human beings are capable of once they abandon dignity.

                  4. Magneto, X-Men series
                  The Devilish Quote:
Are you a God-fearing man, Senator? That is such a strange phrase. I've always thought of God as a teacher; a bringer of light, wisdom, and understanding. You see, I think what you really fear is me. Me and my kind.

                  3. Bill, Kill Bill series
                  The Devilish Quote:
I suppose the traditional way to conclude this is, we cross Hanzo swords. Well, it just so happens, this hacienda comes with its very own private beach. And this private beach just so happens to look particularly beautiful bathed in moonlight. And there just so happens to be a full moon out tonight. So, swordfighter, if you want to sword fight, that's where I suggest. But if you wanna be old school about it - and you know I'm all about old school - then we can wait till dawn, and slice each other up at sunrise, like a couple real-life, honest-to-goodness samurais.

                  2. Anton Chigurh, No Country for Old Men
                  The Devilish Quote:
What's the most you ever lost on a coin toss?

                  1. The Joker, The Dark Knight
                  The Devilish Quote:
Do you want to know why I use a knife? Guns are too quick. You can't savor all the... little emotions. In... you see, in their last moments, people show you who they really are. So in a way, I know your friends better than you ever did. Would you like to know which of them were cowards?

EDIT: I did something I rarely do: have a change of heart on a list I put together. I had totally forgotten about one guy and felt I overrated Mary Jones from Precious (though she's still an excellent villain). I essentially replaced her with the guy at #5.

My favorite joker quote which sums him up is his speech to Two Face while hes in the hospital,

Two-Face: It was your men, your plan!
The Joker: Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it. You know, I just... do things. The mob has plans, the cops have plans, Gordon's got plans. You know, they're schemers. Schemers trying to control their little worlds. I'm not a schemer. I try to show the schemers how pathetic their attempts to control things really are. So, when I say... Ah, come here.
[takes Dent's hand into his own]
The Joker: When I say that you and your girlfriend was nothing personal, you know that I'm telling the truth. It's the schemers that put you where you are. You were a schemer, you had plans, and look where that got you.
[Dent tries to grab the Joker]
The Joker: I just did what I do best. I took your little plan and I turned it on itself. Look what I did to this city with a few drums of gas and a couple of bullets. Hmmm? You know... You know what I've noticed? Nobody panics when things go "according to plan." Even if the plan is horrifying! If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like, a gang banger will get shot, or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all "part of the plan." But when I say that one little old mayor will die, well then everyone loses their minds!
[Joker hands Two-Face a gun and points it at himself]
The Joker: Introduce a little anarchy. Upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos. I'm an agent of chaos. Oh, and you know the thing about chaos? It's fair!
[still holding the gun, Two-Face pauses and takes out his coin]
Two-Face: [showing the unscarred side] You live.
                      The Joker: Mm-hmm.
Two-Face: [flips, showing the scarred side] You die.
The Joker: Mmm, now we're talking.

That picture sums up the Joker perfectly.

                        The Golden Turducken
Season 1: 11-5 (Super Bowl Champion)
Season 2: 12-4 (NFC West Champion)

                        Season 3: 9-4

There was a change in the villains list for those of you that saw it last night. There was someone I forgot about (he's now #5) and I'm a bit surprised none of you reprimanded me for it. Oh well, he's there now & someone else is gone.

Mulholland Dr - didn't really like this one, I think we spoke about this on MM, "only" watched it twice & it'll probably take at least 2 more viewings to swing me around.

                              American Splendor
Ghost World - somehow never got around to either of these (I swear I almost watch American Splendor every couple months but something always comes up).

Catch Me if you Can - very good pic, should've prob had it an HM for '02

                              Before Sunset
The Lives of Others - two more I never got to; The Lives of Others has gotten the same treatment as American Splendor from me. I know I'm gonna get to them, just don't know when.

Donnie Darko - I always thought it was good but way overrated.

Amores Perros - THANK YOU! Here's the story: It was initially on my top 10 list of 2000 then when rearranging that list I made a typo & omitted it, putting Gladiator twice. By the next day, when another poster pointed it out to me, I fixed that issue but didn't have the notes I was using in front of me & forgot what other movie was on the list, so I went & grabbed Men of Honor, stuck it in the #10 slot & forgot about it. I've now re-edited to fix my mistake & AP is at #7 for that year.

Shaun of the Dead - Saw it only in bits and pieces, never sat through it from beginning to end, so I couldn't accurately say how I feel about it. I'm getting there, too.
