And I hate to say this, but I dont think Nolan can touch Bay in action scenes, there have been some great action sequences in Nolans films, like Inception, I love when Arthur is battling the black dude in the hallway, love the music too. And I know some people like to criticize BB for quick cuts of Bats fighting, but if you watch one of the extras for BB, they try and tell you those quick cuts are good for the type of fighting they were using for BB, forgot what style it was though, made to look Bats more badass when going up against a group of people.Comment

But it showed a progression of advancement. From Terminator 2 to Matrix to LOTR there wasn't much in how the special FX advanced. Matrix was key because it introduced us bullet time, but that became a gimmick eventually. LOTR was still using technology used in Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park.
I still believe that 2007 was the year when things advanced like crazy. You can't argue with the fact that, watching Optimus Prime transform in his intro scene was something you had scene before in cinema. And this will really piss off some of you guys who are so called movie experts on the boards, Michael Bay used tech from Bad Boys 2 and the Matrix trilogy. But he was being backed by Spielberg on the project so it always a matter of what you steal/borrow resources from to progress movie making.
Maybe there was a "progression of advancement"(which isn't what you originally said), but it's watered down when you look at it relatively.
You mentioned Jurrasic Park and The Matrix. The first appearance of the Brachiosaurus and the bullet time scene were more impressive for their time then anything Transformers did.Comment

BTW.....I also just realized saying "progression of advancement" is an oxymoron. So I take that back, it's just progress
