Thought it was good. Garfield is definitely better as Peter Parker.

Just saw it. Was great, Garfield is 10x better than Tobey as both PP and Spidey. He establishes real pathos for both characters in a way that was noticeably absent from the Raimi shitfests.

Spiderman 1 and 2, in all of their cheesy, comic book, glory still hold a special place my heart, but a lot of of what I've read about this has me interested in seeing it. I still think that Spiderman has the worst fucking villains ever and the Lizard makes me shake my head, but I'll give it a chance.

I think they did a great job with the Lizard in this movie. I liked that they showed him transformed and still briefly wearing his coat as a nod to the Lizard from the comics/cartoons:

The movie isn't perfect, but I still enjoyed it a great deal. My main issue was length and pacing. I felt it ran a tad long and I would have tightened it up a smidge, but other than that it was more than serviceable for die-hard fans of the comics and/or TV cartoons.

There were some moments of cheese and camp, as to be expected in a Spidey story, but it found a nice comfort zone that was much truer to the traditional tone of the franchise that the 2002-07 movies.

Thoughts on the credits scene? Not really sure what to think.

I saw it last night and loved it. Only issue I have and its minor is the lack of more allusions to the rest of the spiderman universe

Thought it was good but IMO, there were too many lovey dovey moments.

I figured that was a possibility, but my huge gripe would be:

I don't want to see another Goblin movie or else this series will fall into the trap with audiences of "I've seen this before." that would just be unavoidable. They don't need to introduce Mary Jane Watson at all this entire series, IMO, and Norman Osborn for that matter. Let's see some other Spider-Man villains that we haven't seen. Or throw in Venom and Carnage and do those characters right.

That said, it would make sense for it to be Norman, aaaand Green Goblin does drop Gwen Stacy off of a sky scraper and she dies of shock before Spidey catches her.... So it plays into that whole bit with the promise Peter makes at the end of the first film... I really just don't want too many characters used again when there are so many to choose from.

I think they go in a direction where Norman Osborn isn't the Goblin but more of like how he is in comics now as the head of The Cabal. Make him less of a costumed villian and more of a mastermind.

Didn't like how he stopped chasing his uncle bens killer out of nowhere.

I did think it was an excellent movie.
