IMO it has too many fans of the movie that think that just because they like it that they are somehow inherently smarter.
i loved it long before it got the huge internet hype that has now grown to internet backlash

It's funny how a movie could go from a cult movie to overrated like Donnie Darko has to people. Boondock Saints is having the same thing happen to it now.

It's like what happened to Ben Wallace, so underrated you become overrated.

FWIW, I thought Boondock Saints was pretty average when I saw it a year or so back.

''Pretty average'' is being far too kind.

Who the hell enjoyed the movie enough for it to be overrated? It wasn't critics, because they ripped it to shreds - and I don't know a single person that enjoyed it. Are you guys going by IMDB again?

          Let me guess - 8.2?

LOL gonna go check for you. I thought it was really cheesy and kind of gay, but had some cool action scenes. Maybe seeing it in the 90s would have blown me away, but all I kept thinking was how lame and dated it was and how I'd rather be watching Departed or some other good movie set in Boston.

Aaaand, it's a 7.9 on imdb Nuke, well done.

I couldn't have put it any better myself, especially Dafoe's role.

              Wtf was with that, anyway?

Nuk, I finally know who your ex-Avy and Sig is, and i'd like to thank you for that.

As for underrated movies, I really think Hot Rod was underrated. Nobody talks about it but it was one of the funniest movies I've seen for a while.

Yeah, I literally laughed out loud when they were twisting upside down from that rope, killing multiple people while being shot at. That was about when I had enough.
