Happy to be proven wrong. Enjoyed Avatar, but it was not a Best Pic winner. Good for Bigelow

I'm glad they got it right. I loved the Hurt Locker so much.

i loved how Tom Hanks dropped the bomb in like 2 seconds, not even a mention of the other 9 movies (you'd think the most anticipated award would be dragged out, guess the show itself was enough)

I'd imagine ABC told them to wrap it up. I think the Oscars have traditionally gone as long as needed in the past.

Each year the Oscars find a way to drag out what would otherwise be a quick ceremony. At the beginning, the scenes they showed for Best Supporting Actress were so incredibly long, there was no way they could do that for each movie.

Side note: Hurt Locker, much deserved.

I have no idea what The Blind Side was doing there. I didn't realize it till the oscars but this year did suck for movies, I want to see Up in the Air now though.

Meh @ The Hurt Locker...I mean, it was good...but it wasn't Best Picture worthy...neither was Avatar, but alas...

Up In The Air and Inglorious Basterds were the best of the bunch by a good margin.

I'd even say that Star Trek was better than The Hurt Locker (it was also better than Avatar).

lulz finally someone thinks the same. The Hurt Locker was good but I don't know whats with some people calling it one of the best of the decade.

If it weren't for VSNs' praise I'd be surprised it was even up for best picture.

The whole thing is just a way for the the movie industry to show everyone how good they are at entertaining us. They're going to milk it for all it's worth, wouldn't be surprising if it grew into a four hour thing in the next few years.

Also, Anna Kendrick needs to be my wife soon.

Hell, each of the 10 movies nominated got a mini-lovefest during the show complete with someone talking extensively about it then a lengthy clip. No need for him to come out and talk even more about them, especially with the clock striking midnight on the east coast.

Anyhoo, no real surprises this year, though I'm mildly surprised about Bullock's win (then again, I still haven't actually seen The Blindside). All feel deserved to me, including Best Pic. Why you guys thought Jeff Bridges wasn't going to win is beyond me. Everyone in the industry has been slobbing his knob since he got the nom and he seemed more of a lock than anyone in any other category, save for maybe Mo'Nique in Best Supporting Actress.

As usual, it was a solid show stretched too far, much like this post.

Everyone was all over Mickey Rourke last year, too, though.

                            Classic rob job.

If I had to rate the Best Picture movies this year, at least the ones I saw, it would look like this:

                              1. The Hurt Locker
                              2. Inglorious Basterds
                              3. Avatar
                              4. The Blind Side
                              5. A Serious Man
                              6. Up
                              7. District 9

I still need to see An Education, Up in the Air, and Precious. Will get a chance to see Precious tomorrow, seeing as it's out on DVD. This was a weak year, but still had a few good movies. Hurt Locker was good, but like others said, not a classic. It would not of won in year's past.

Anybody enjoy the acting this year?

I still think Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men and Heath Ledger in Dark Knight trumps anything this year. Then again I haven't seen all of the movies..
