Possible replacements (all rumors) - Danny McBride(Kenny Powers from Eastbound and Down, Red from Pineapple Express) and Rhys Darby (the manager on Flight of the Concords). From what I remember, Danny McBride is supposed to make an appearance regardless of whether or not he winds up being the guy who takes over. Mindy Kaling (Kelly; co-producer, writer) recently endorsed Dwight for the job, too.

I don't think Danny or Rhys works here.

I think Rhys, if he plays anything like his usual characters (Murray from Conchords or Carrey's buddy in Yes Man) will be too similar to Michael Scott.

And the last thing this show needs is a Kenny Powers-esque boss. Kathy Bates was a female version of this and it almost ruined the show in my opinion.
