Agree with you on the show. It transformed in the past few weeks into HOLY SHIT AMAZING SHOW status.
I wouldn't put Walking Dead there yet, but I have personal reasons for that. (Dialogue and two-dimensional characters leave a bit to be desired.)
Boardwalk Empire is on fucking fire now though. The scene where Chalky chokes dude out in front of Kuncky and Jimmy was pretty awesome.

I know, this blew my mind. He says it so nonchalantly too. When he suggests killing the mother and siblings, all I could say was: "holy shit, half-face dude is a fucking G."
And the Van Alden scene in the river was fucking awkward .... That dude is fucking looney.

Dude ... yes. That scene where she comes home to see if the letter is still on the bed, amazing writing. Simultaneously, ever viewer immediately thinks "ohhh shit!" when the letter isn't there.
Then the way Jimmy slowplayed it, fucking agonizing. I feel so bad for Jimmy, he really has no sense of family. His mother is young enough to be his sister and is frankly, a whore, and his would-be wife is a lesbian who just tried to steal his son and raise him as a Frenchie bastard.
He truly has no allegiances. Which is why I think he gravitated so much to the Tin Woodsman. Jimmy could tell that he is a lot like him, broken beyond repair from the war and completely detached from human emotion. He and Half-Face are about to start merking degoes left and right. I have a boner for the finale, but I really wish there were 4 more episodes.Comment

Yeah the scene when she gets back and the letter is gone was one of the best I've seen. So much tension yet Jimmy played it really cool.
Also, Eli is going to flip his shit when he finds out he won't be sheriff anymore, that was a really rash decision by Nucky.Comment
