Can't send him to Belize, he is family. Meth Damon and the Nazis (Walt rocking Meth Damon's jacket not, Jesse's) are the enemy and are actually the ones who did the 10-deaths-in-2-minutes that Kuby name drops in reference to Walt. These guys are trouble, even to Lydia.

I really like the foil aspect of Jesse/Todd, too.

Loved last night's episode, normally focusing so much on Skyler and Marie is a recipe for a disappointing hour, but I felt their scenes together were incredible. Anna Gunn really brought it throughout in the very Skyler-centric episode.

Probably the best stuff we've seen from Skyler thus far. It was the first time I found myself defending her.

That Marie confrontation and inevitable "You have to catch him." or something like that was surprisingly really powerful stuff.

I feel like this thread has everything it needs now. Great episode last night, probably the first time I didn't want to kill Skylar, the whole scene in the diner was on point.

one of the best things about this show is the hiding in plain site from Hank story. but they just skipped over all the foreplay and went right into the aftermath. they could have expanded on it a lot more
Tell me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Walt been doing this for the last 4 years?

I'm interested in who the guys were that Lydia had massacred and why they fell out with Todd in the first place.

Todd winds up killing a member of the White family before all is said and done.

Wonder who those guys are? Did you not watch the first part of season 5?

Lydia used Todd and his Aryan Brotherhood uncle to kill Declan (Gus's competition in the southwest, they're mainly Arizona folk, IIRC). The Czech want their crystal blue persuasion to be as pure as it gets, but Declan doesn't care if it's Todd's 74% or his 60%, Phoenix junkies will buy it either way. Declan abandoned the operation set up by Heisenberg because he didn't trust Todd and saw it better to cut him out, using him starting a fire the 3rd time he cooked as an excuse to bring in his own guys.

If you don't know Declan's connection to Lydia/Heisenberg, you missed one of the best segments of one of the best episodes of the show thus far ("Say My Name")

Hank just got hit with the train (Leaves of Grass) that connects Walt with this...and then EVERYTHING falls into place. Walt's lies, the money, the carwash, the disappearances...hell, even the stuff that only Walt could have heard from Hank.

At least Hank is smart enough to realize that he is finished unless he can actually get concrete proof instead of the mountains of circumstantial evidence he has. That's where Jesse comes in.
I was watching the Talking Bad aftershow on Netflix, and Gilligan basically said 'I have 8 episodes left, the audience all knows that Hank knows, there is no point in a slow burn. We want to kick it off ASAP'

And I appreciate that. What do we gain by watching Hank slowly figure it out? As Riley mentioned, Hank has been slowly getting it over 4 seasons. I don't need 8 more episodes. I need 8 episodes of the world closing in on Walt and I can't have that if Hank can't even figure out the fucking obvious

Hank essentially had Walt dead to rights the first time when he was going over W.W. with Walt early in Season 4...but he just didn't want to believe it...when Walt tells him its Walt Whitman...he lets it go.

The he sees Leaves of Grass, plus a similar message, PLUS confirms the handwriting...then he puts together all of the weird shit going on in the White household...its a wrap for Hank.

One of the best aspects of this show is that Hank isn't your oaf-ish police officer like a lot of shows would have created him...he's a great cop...he's smart. He's a bit of an oaf and jokester in his family life, but as a cop, he's a good one. Once he had even the thinnest of circumstantial evidence to pinpoint Walt as Heisenberg, he just knew. No need to have Hank try and connect dots for half of Season 5: Part 2...he's a good cop...he already knows, now, its all about getting the evidence...he went to Skylar first...now he's going to Jesse...no need to dabble with the bullshit.

Seems like Maynard wants Hank to be like the cops at Miami Metro via Dexter...

idk...i just would have rather seen it play out in a show or 2 instead of him bunkering down in the garage with all his boxes of evidence. Plus the way Walt found out Hank was on to him was weak imo....its one thing to wonder about a missing book....but to all of a sudden turn a misplaced book into OMG hank must know and placed a tracker on my car....thats weak. they should have developed this angle a little more

Im sure anyone could put it all together at that point, Hank leaving so abruptly because he was "sick", taking the time off work, acting the way he did, on top of realizing it was Gale who gave him the book, id imagine it was very easy to all piece together for Walt at that point. Im really glad they confronted it as quickly as they did, it made for a fucking epic and surprisingly way to start the season and allows them to be able to quickly move on to the important shit, rather than building towards something that we know is going to happen.
