not like anyone posted that interview until now...but yet the discussion has been on going for over a week now....lol

and gale never gave walt a book in a show. its incredibly tacked on after the fact and a joke of a finale cliff hanger....i met a person and after working with him for 8 hours he is my idol....yeah, thats almost believable.

I didn't know the interview existed. Had I known that I wouldn't have been trying to look at the writing from the book and lab notes. Kind of ruins it in a way knowing the truth from the writer. I'd rather spend months arguing theories than already knowing it. Meh. Now this thread will be buried until next year.

Gilligan has never been one to leave people hanging really. Same thing happened at the end of Season 3 in that final scene with Jesse shooting Gale a lot of viewers thought that because of the way the camera panned that perhaps Jesse didn't shoot Gale or missed or something of that nature. Gilligan stated in an interview after that he wasn't trying to leave that impression, essentially saying that Jesse did in fact shoot Gale.

There was a flashback scene from before Gale meets Walt that suggests he already admires his work before he meets him. In that scene, Gale is telling Gus how pure Walt's cook is, and how even on his best day he's nowhere close to that good. So yeah, it's entirely possible that due to professional admiration, he idolized Walt before meeting him. You know, since the series explicitly shows you this with the opening scene of an episode.

Absolutely, and it's fun to speculate, but when the handwriting looks nearly identical and Vince Gilligan comes out and says "yeah Gale gave him that book off screen" ... then yeah.
