The series was character driven for the most part. Of course a part of the series was about the island, but it never diverged away from the importance of Jack/Locke/Kate/Sawyer/etc. and the island on one another.
The end of the series did not contain any large unveiling or attempt to connect the plenty of unanswered dots that remained. It did depict the way they came to grips with their deaths and how they were ultimately connected to each other through the afterlife.
Watching season whatever and the Dharma camps may not have a direct correlation with that, but that's how they decided to draw out the main storyline.
As for Eko, the writers did say in a perfect world, the character would have had a larger role in the series. However, the actor did not want to stay on the series so they had to go a different route. So what?

In a perfect world, LOST wouldn't have been rushed into that crappy ending.
It doesn't take away from the fact that it was a great series.
In a perfect world, the series would have been given 10-12 seasons and a proper ending.
If I had my way, the entire series would be written in book form after season 1 and explained properly.
As for The Event, watched the debut Saturday night, it's no LOST ... but I'll give it a chance.
The lead character (Jack Tripper's son) just doesn't work for me.
But, again, I'll give it a shot.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

So, here's the nitty gritty and what matters for the future.
Last night's episode, the second one after the premiere (obviously), lost 20% of it's audience. That's not atrocious, but it's not good either. Definitely more than the average drop after a shows premiere. There is always additional drop-age that occurs up until approx episode 4-5 of a new show, so the bleeding isn't done yet. Bottom line, this isn't going to be the ratings giant NBC expected (which in turn means people aren't in love with it). Barring a disaster, this will definitely see a full season, but it's 2nd season/long term looks questionable.
FYI for those here who get pissed when shows get canceled and they have become attached to them....Comment

uhmmm, Lost was hardly the most popular drama. It's ratings the first 3 years were around 18-20 million and a 5 in the demo, but the final 3 seasons were barely 9.0 million viewers and a 3.5-4.0 demo. Hardly serves as the "most popular drama of the decade."
To Lost fans it might seem that way, but the only people around the final 3 seasons were the die hard Lost fans who wanted to know what was going on. As an entire viewing population, the show was nothing more than average as a ratings producer. The show was outwatched on the final three seasons by many other programs (All 3 CSI's, Grey's, House, 24, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, even Numb3rs on Friday night was close). CSI has been the most popular drama for the last 6 years or more. Until last year when it was in the 15 million range, CSI was pulling in 18-24 million viewers every week with a demo near 4.5+. Even last year when comparing numbers it dominated the final season of Lost.
CSI (Vegas) will go down as one of the most popular shows ever, let alone drama's. And American Idol has been the most dominant show, period, of all genres, in the 2000's.Comment

The EVENT is garbage, but I'll still keep watching cause I have nothing else to watch. Hell I saw every episode of Heroes, can't be worse then that.Comment
