Apparently sitcoms with Larrys in them dont qualify.

Best reason to have a license.

Three's Company was on my original list, but I could not find a usable video on YouTube, so I bumped it off.

Some of you will hate this choice, others might agree with it, but I don't think anyone could reasonably argue that it doesn't belong somewhere high. In the OP I mentioned that sometimes "simple is better", and that applies here. Stand alone, Gary Portney's "Everybody Knows Your Name" is a pretty corny song, but when attached to this show, it works perfectly.

The credits pair the actors name with their old time bar counterpart. Ted Danson's name appears next to the bar keep, Kelsey Grammer's name is shown next to a sophiticated gentleman wearing a monocle, etc. While somewhat simple, it would have been easy to fall into the sitcom trap of the era, and do a series of zany action shots from the show, or even worse, lame posed portraits, with name overlays. The route they chose was classy.

To me, this intro has it all. It's great without trying too hard, it's classy, and the music defines the show and has become iconic. It's the #1 television intro of all time.

Brilliant, W2B. Can't argue with Cheers at the top. Can't believe Weeds wasn't included, but you may have never seen the show.

Little Boxes is one of the few themes from the last 5 years that breaks free of the norm.

Also, why didn't you keep the devil down in the hole?

I'm familiar with the Weeds open. Cool concept. I don't know, I just didn't include it.

And for the record, I really really hate the intro for The Wire.

As for Fresh Prince, I considerd it, it was in my notes, almost made the cut. Maybe it's generational, idk. Can definately see it making a list like this made by somebody else.

Band Of Brothers - mini series. I stuck with regular primetime series with this.

Saw some cartoons, ect mentioned. See above explaination.

OK, you guys see the list...feel free to rip me or suggest other stuff you think I might have missed.

Meet's all your criteria in my awesome opinion

                        - It's memorable, and I doubt you could find/make a better theme tune for the shows subject

                        - Unique, simple but creative. Science-fictiony, but mysterious and creepy as fuck.

                        - Iconic and is Instantly recognizable

                        - Me being a semi-nerd and all, thinks it's a damn fine show.

It's always, you know, a generation factor.

To prove this, I'll show you what my nominees were for Palooza and NAHSTE's top ten rough draft, back when we first discussed the idea (server crash happened soon after). Notice how modern-centric it is, as opposed to your list, which I felt was pretty balanced.

                              (no particular order)
