A lot of humor in this one, worked perfectly as a set up for the last scene which was such a rapid tonal shift. I think I initially focused too much on what didn't happen instead of enjoying what did, and sold this one a bit short.

Maybe its because I've read the books and know what's coming, but I quite enjoy the little pawn movements that these episodes show. Lots of subtlety for those that haven't read the books. Unintentional humor. Just good stuff.

I've heard this too. I can understand it after the first two, second episode was essentially another season premier, setting up plots, etc. But I thought last nights was quality all around; the Pod stuff, the small council meeting, and Dany being a badass were all great. And they ended it with a pretty major event, although the juxtaposition of that and The Hold Steady song in credits was pretty bizarre.

The Hold Steady are a great band, but they don't really fit with Game of Thrones. They definitely didn't fit with that scene. I heard some of the downloads going around had the audio fucked up so the song started before
