    1990's, 2000's, 1980's

Good to worse. I think that music has started to come around though. I think it started going down hill towards the end of the 1990's, peaking in shittiness in the early 2000's, and now making a rebound.

When it comes to hip hop, it's not even a question.

There are so many Indie Labels and bands popping up with quality music.
Even in Hip Hop there are things that Kanye and Jay-Z are able to do that guys like BIggie and Tupac never had access to.

Every genre was made from folk to heavy metal to christian rap. If you think the 2000's was the worst genre of music that's ok, but in no way was it limited. There were more genres being played in the 2000's then there's ever been.

You guys were talking about how in the past you didn't have to look for new music. The radio being good made everyone tuned in to basically the same stuff.
Now it's not like that, there's no artist or genre that just unites everyone like say....The summer of love.
Now everyone goes there own way which makes it diverse as fuck.

            00 by a country mile.

I dont care what genre it is. Unless "latin cross over pop" is the only thing you listen to.

            00's
            RnB pretty much died.
            Most atrocious rap era ever.
A decent period of alternative Rock resurgence turned to full blown hipster emo shit.
Country crossed over which will probably means it was cheapened.

Not one single *mega* star all time great in any genre started in the 00s
Quality depth was sorely lacking on all fronts.

Beyonce , Linkin Park , Kanye ...... all took a back seat to AutoTune as most most well known influential artist.

When Chocolate Rain and single ladies is the catchiest you've produced you've failed as a decade.

And most of it is garbage.

The Indie bullshit always kills me. Same ridiculous "unda ground rappas on mix tapes" illusion guys were feeding us in the 90s.

Guess what all those garage band hacks got a voice exposure and distribution channels and did absolutely nothing.

Every Tom Dick and Harry thinks they can sing, rhyme , make a beat etc. They cant 99% of them suck ass. Find a good one ? chances are hes working with a bunch of sucky ass band members or producers.

It took a shit ton of money to produce a star. Finding a good one was rare, finding a quality writer was rare , finding a hook a hit single was HARD.
You take the top tier talent scouts out of the loop , the vocal and musical coaches out of the equation you end up with 120 gigs of shitty "Indy" mp3s
It often took hundreds of thousands if not millions invested to create a star. The money was taken out of the equation.

American Idol has had anyone who even thought about music auditioning for them for a decade. ALLL the money they have backing them....and theyve only produced a handful of "good" singers and maybe one great one.

Technology + STUPID stubborn execs + the dumbest generation of kids = worst decade of music.

Why are the 80's not an option? What about the 40's? If it is 90's or 00's, I say 00's by a hair.

^Remember the Limp Biskit music videos? Shit was scary way back when for a 10 year old. I think there was one where Durst was drowned in milk or something.

Who the hell cares about mega stars? Music is music, I couldn't care less if the artist sold 10 albums or 10 millions.

You're crazy if you don't think a few artist like Arcade Fire, Kanye West, and Eminem will be viewed as GOATS in their "genre".

There may not have been any Hey Judes, Yesterdays, Light My Fires, Satisfactions, or My Generations. But please don't try to act like Soulja Boy and Kesha were the only thing on the radio.

Anyways, you're saying this like you're taking shots at anyone who thinks there was good music last decade. If you can go a 10 year period without finding any classic albums to add to your own personal collection, you're the one with the problem...

                              Music has been on a slide since the 80s. It easily goes 80s > 90s > 00s.

                              * For anyone who says 80s music sucks, go fuck yourself.

Nothing to do with taking shots at people. But the ridiculous indy and narrow appeal music acts making this decade anything but deplorable is silly.

Any hobo can find an album or single that they love and listen to forever. Noone cares about that. EVERY decade had that. But it was covered up by layers and layers of major hits , albums and influential artists. Great art whether is music , movies , etc is about capturing the imagination of the masses. Not playing some dive bar in hoboken.
Greatness has a way of shining through and it shined the least in the 00s. Was there talent for it ? Perhaps. But execs controlled and groomed them in ways that cheapened music and influenced the industry for the worst.

You would be MAJORLY challenged to find anyone who thinks 00's wasnt the worst in decades.

Quantity doesnt equal quality. Of course youre looking at obscure artists ,since the upper echelon and mid pack is devoid of anything truly memorable.

It would be like arguing the 00s was the "Defensive era" in football.
