I saw this guy Amos Lee at a festival. guy is crazy talented. I became a fan instantly. He is a blues, soul, folk. I went and got all of his music the very next day. He recently put out a new album.
Tennis' album is pretty much everything wrong with music.
It's not that it's a bad record, but the whole premise of that album is built on the idea of some reanimated nostalgia. Instead of focusing on individual sounds, the LP is about one sound and it makes every song sound the same.
Which is why I just find it.... boring. I kept thinking, this sounds like a really boring Best Coast album.
Well, I think they're snappy songs for when you're feeling nostalgic.
I'm just beginning to realize that artists that can put you in multiple moods within the same song, in my opinion, are the true talents in music.
The internet has made music so niche-y that you can find an artist/genre that fits your specific mood so easy and that's what most new artists seem to be shooting for.
Best Coast and Tennis, for me, are good to come on shuffle every once in a while. Their songs are pretty good, but throw them all together and it gets boring quick.

My friend's take on Best Coast (she likes them)
I saw Best Coast at SXSW last year and it was the most uninspired horseshit.
"Suck" would have been an improvement over whatever this was.
I just refuse to stick around for shows where the artist can't even gather up a modicum of excitement about their own music. If you aren't into it, how the hell am I supposed to be?
Ah, the fringe class. Somehow Heels, I don't usually like indie artists because many suffer from what I like to call "noenthusiasmitis", but you never disappoint.
