I saw Hunx with his Punkettes at SXSW (now I guess he uses a dude band), and while the music wasn't great, he put on quite the show. Fun to watch.

Gene/Josh/Anthony, you guys listen to Twin Sister? They only have two EP's, but they're both solid. Hopefully they release an LP this year.Originally posted by mgoblue2290If you want to win, put Drew in.Comment

Not sure if you're into the Kills, but have you given their new album a listen. I'm curious as to the Ian Curtis head count for the new shit.Comment

Of course for me Okkervil River have set a very high bar so even when they fail to meet expectations they are still worthy of regular ipod rotation.Comment

By the way, I heard some dumb whore cover Skinny Love on the radio the other day.

Thanks for introducing me to The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart...I checked out some more of their stuff on youtube and I'll definitely be picking up their CD's when I get the chance.Comment

I just...can't really get into The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Both albums are just okay to me. But, it happens.

I've always liked this band from Austin, (I'm looking at you Josh). They've always had a kind of folksy feel about them, like a more folksy Arcade Fire. Their last album, The Stand Ins, is one of my favorite albums in recent memory. It seems as if on this album, they've incorporated new sounds. Possibly a result of new found confidence gained after their last success. I was eagerly anticipating this album and it doesn't disappoint. I would say it's a notch down from The Stand Ins, but it's still a great album.
4/5 Ian Curtis heads
