I think people nitpick because we want it to be great. Its not because the show isn't good, if it sucked, no one would be in this thread. There is a reason why there aren't any "The River" threads that are 500+ posts. However, I just don't get some of the choices that the show is making when the original source material is absolutely amazing.
For instance, one of the characters was killed off in the show. Not a huge deal, but she is still alive 90+ comics into the original source material and is somewhat important to the story, especially in upcoming segments. She can be easily replaced with some other random addition, but that changes a huge dynamic that is important in the next location the survivors go to.
We nitpick because we care and want the show to be everything it possibly can be, although for some reason, I doubt the show's writers are actively reading a video game forum. It is still a show I watch, but it is basically a struggle not to compare it to the comic book which hit so many marks perfectly.Comment

Minus those who are fans of the comic, pretty sure the only reason most care about this is because it's the only zombie show on TV. Believe me if the genre was more common and say...HBO had a decent zombie series, I wouldn't pay any mind to The Walking Dead sucking.Comment

Also, World War Z is coming out in December 2012 and is starring Brad Pitt. That is arguably my favorite zombie book ever and has amazing potential, although it is a difficult book to make into a movie since it is all vignettes.
In either case, I hope it stirs up interest in zombie shows and movies so that those of us who are obsessed with the concept will have some shows to watch.
Edit: Wanted to add in that I'm hoping The Enemy series by Charlie Higson gets picked up by someone to make into a show. It is about a disease that spreads and only affects people over the age of 16, turning them into zombies. So it is basically kids trying to work together against a zombie apocalypse. It would probably end up being picked up by like ABC Family like with Pretty Little Liars, but it is well written enough to work without excessive gore or swearing.Comment

FWIW, from those that have seen the rest of the upcoming season they say it's mindblowing and awesome.Comment

The guy who plays Shane is fucking awesome.
Can't wait for some Rick vs. Shane stuff.
Don't understand why Rick decided to bring the guy back to camp. The kid's leg is fucked up for good, may as well just put him out of his misery instead.

The problem with this show all along has been hype, plain and simple.
AMC picked up a bunch of steam with the success of Mad Men and Breaking Bad and people have come to expect a level of excellence that The Walking Dead has come nowhere close to reaching.
While Breaking Bad is thrilling and engrossing and Mad Men is dramatic and engaging, The Walking Dead is trite and flat.
I have no qualms with saying this is the most disappointing show currently on-air.Comment

Halfway through tonight's episode (pacific time ftmfw) and I'm kind of sad that the survivors are using guns nonstop. At this point in the comic books, they were aware that using guns only attracted more zombies.Comment

It makes me sad that the only character that the show is writing really well for is Shane. The actor and the storyline made for him (ie. Him killing Otis) are easily the best part of this show.Comment

I'm still liking this show a lot, though my likeness of it is lowering the longer they stay at the farm.
Also to me it seems
that the group is slowly starting to split between rick and shane. Obviously Lori, carl, and the old guy are team Rick. Andrea is with Shane. I think it is something that may continue and eventually the two groups going seperate ways. If I had to guess Darryl and T-Dogg would go with Shane while the asian kid and everyone else would be with Rick."It's the revenge of the dicks that's nine cocks that cock nines"Comment

Some of you guys gotta shut your brains off and stop nitpicking... If its so awful, stop watching.
Taking it for what it's worth, a hour of entertainment once a week, I enjoyed last night's episode. Keeps me on edge at times, I think they've kept me guessing enough as to what's happening next that I really have no idea when an issue arises.
Olive Oil hyping up Rick sets the stage.
I wish they'd just show the previews for next week not in the middle of some god awful comic book circle jerk...Comment
