After watching this movie, I've come to the conclusion that there is no possible way the movie could have been made without CGI.

This movie was very good and def. better than most of the movies that came out this summer. Loved the character development, plot and CGI. It's crazy how good CGI is getting, soon they won't need actors at all. I'm soooo glad this wasn't in cheesy 3D...

As much as I liked the movie it did have its faults. Franco was decent, but a little miss cast. I kind of felt they needed a little bit of an older Dr. I also didn't care for the cliché abusive "zookeeper."

All in all good flick! Can't wait for the prequel sequel!

Anyone else catch the whole thing about a Mission to Mars! You can already see them setting up sequels, where the virus/Apes take over earth and we have to relocate to Mars.

And Brian Cox is going to be out for Cesars blood in the next one!

          In reference to your spoiler...

You missed out on key little details that referred to the original 1968 sequel...

The mission to Mars was a failure.

The ship that launched was called the Icarus (the name of the ship from the 1968).

However, the ship was lost in space (there is a scene where they show a newspaper that shows the the shuttle was lost). This is the ship with Heston and his crew.

This film doesn't NEED a sequel. It sets up perfectly and snug into the the 1968 film. There was no big war between human's and apes for the apes to take over the planet. The "cure" drug spread all over the world and killed most of the world.

In the original Ape series, Heston assumes the world blew up because of nuclear war. In the later sequels, they say it was because of nuclear war, but this film is a prequel to the 1968 version...this was the reason Apes rose to power, humans died out and this cure that kills humans because their immune system doesn't adapt, is perfectly fine amongst apes because their immune system works faster and harder than humans. This disease makes all Apes intelligent while most humans are dead.

IMO, don't NEED a sequel to this film as everything fits in.

The best part of this film was how they flipped the script. In the original film, Apes are the bad guys. In this film, the Apes are the good guys. Loved that dynamic, and oddly, it all makes sense even when snug with the first film.

Really liked this film, wasnt expecting a whole lot of action, especially when they are still in cages at about an hour in and only about 30+ mins left. Draco was Draco, without the magic, still had the wand, just electrified . Really didnt care for Franco or the chick, they didnt have a whole lot of screen time, and of course the black guy is played out as a mini villain. CGI was top notch. I liked the nods to the original movies and wasnt sure if the tvs on had Heston on them or not. Dont know why, but I thought the ape and orangutan were references to the Marky Mark movie with the Ape being Michael Clark Duncan and the orangutan being Paul G
