Really liked this film, wasnt expecting a whole lot of action, especially when they are still in cages at about an hour in and only about 30+ mins left. Draco was Draco, without the magic, still had the wand, just electrified . Really didnt care for Franco or the chick, they didnt have a whole lot of screen time, and of course the black guy is played out as a mini villain. CGI was top notch. I liked the nods to the original movies and wasnt sure if the tvs on had Heston on them or not. Dont know why, but I thought the ape and orangutan were references to the Marky Mark movie with the Ape being Michael Clark Duncan and the orangutan being Paul G

None of the Apes were characters from the films...this was a prequal to the 1968 version.

 

However, when they rattled off the names of the Apes there were a few that could be seen as one of their parents...Cornelia for one example (Cornelius was a main ape in the original).

I think that is completely off-base.

The entire premise of the movie as well as the execution isn't what most people predicted. Most are going in thinking its going to be some Apes v. Humans with Earth on the line kind of film. Its not and I think most people will go in thinking it is...at least most people I've discussed it with that haven't seen it yet.

There’s so much we could do… The ideas I’ve had are all sorts of things, ranging from FULL METAL JACKET with apes… you could start this story again eight years from where we left off, the next generation of apes, those that have come from our protagonists, perhaps going in to a conflict with humans and showing real fear, in the same way as going into war for young soldiers in this day and age, telling their story. Or how apes are taking over cities, and being moved into human environments and having to interact with them and deal with things that are part of our culture and understand and evolve through them. Spies that are in the employ of the apes, working against humans and humans maybe existing underground, because that’s a way they can avoid the virus, coming up above ground wearing gas masks, and maybe that’s what dehumanises them.
