New article says Bale isn't involved with the India shoot. One would have to assume it involves Josh Pence/Young Ra's al Ghul.

Christian Bale starrer The Dark Knight Rises — the much-awaited sequel to the 2008 Hollywood blockbuster The Dark Knight — will commence its production with a ‘two desert sequence’ to be shot over Friday and Saturday at the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhphur, Rajasthan.

Filmmaker Christopher Nolan, who helmed the series’ first two projects — Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight that went on to make over $1 billion worldwide — will pan the camera in India over the weekend for the final installment of the series. Nolan has written the screenplay for this one with his brother Jonathan.

“Chris flew down to India in December last year in a hush-hush affair for a recce in Jodhpur, and he loved the place. He will shoot a two-day desert sequence there and inside the Mehrangarh Fort on May 6 and May 7,” says an industry source.

“It’ll be a fraction scene in the movie and perhaps the audiences won’t even come to know that it’s India,” the source adds. The fort authorities confirm. “Yes, the movie is being shot here,” says a front desk executive.

The film unit arrived on Wednesday in a chartered plane with over a dozen crew members, and Nolan is expected to fly back on May 8. Bale, however, is not coming to the country.

Bhanupratap Rathore, a local guide, says that the crew will be staying at Taj’s Vivanta Hari Mahal hotel .

Other sources inform that the Jodhpur footage may feature the superhero’s antagonists The League of Shadows, considering their link to Asia, as shown in the movie.

The plot revolves around Batman dealing with his new status as a wanted vigilante pitted against the deadly villain Bane (Tom Hardy) and Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, played by Anne Hathaway.

Goblin, since you are the one stop shop for all things Batman, I will ask you in this thread as well. Do you know of anywhere someone could score the Batman:Animated series complete boxset for a reasonable price? All I see is upwards of $300.00 and bootlegs on eBay.

I'm also thinking of ordering the Brave & Bold and there was one more box set I saw on Amazon. Batman Beyond I believe?

I see a few animated feature length movies as well that look interesting.

There's four volumes to the animated series collection. Here's number one on Amazon: [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Animated-Comics-Classic-Collection/dp/B00023E894/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1304607928&sr=1-1[/ame]

They released the complete set a few years ago, but it's sold out. I have no idea when they plan to rerelease that.

There's also a Batman Beyond DVD. As for animated films, I'd suggest Batman Mask of the Phantasm and Under the Red Hood.

Yeah, I know you can buy the volumes separately but I'm trying to score the whole set.

They had two printings back in 2009, and they both sold out. I'm not sure why WB's hasn't made a third edition. Best bet is to find it used somewhere now, probably won't come cheap though.

You could always do as I did with Justice League. Switch to the 3 at a time plan on netflix, and then borrow the dvds, and rip them to a video file on your hard drive. I have all the JL episodes on an external HD and just run them on my PS3 constantly.

In case you forgot, filming starts tomorrow/tonight in India. They set up a dolly track for a camera outside of the fort, right next to a well. On one side the camera will look towards the fort, and on the other towards the city. Here' pictures of the view:

                      Spoilers!

On Monday, Christian Bale, Josh Pence and Christopher Nolan left India in a chartered flight, having shot for 'The Dark Knight Rises' in Jodhpur.

Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale's date with India got over on Monday morning, when they took a chartered flight back from Jodhpur to London. Both Nolan and Bale had arrived in India on May 4 and had shot for "The Dark Knight Rises" in front of and inside Jodhpur's Mehrangarh Fort on May 6 and 7. Accompanying Bale on this India trip was Josh Pence, the actor who was digitally superimposed with Armie Hammer's visage to portray one half of the Winklevoss twins in David Fincher's " The Social Network". Pence was recently cast as young Ra's Al Ghul and is one of Batman's greatest enemies.

Incidentally, a green screen was created just outside the Fort. Nolan shot in front of the green screen and used the Fort as the backdrop. Sources say that this backdrop of the Fort has been used to establish that Batman is in an exotic location which is isolated too. However, this backdrop isn't meant to be shown as India in the film. Back in the UK studios, this 30 ft x 30 ft green screen will be digitally modified to create the Lazarus Pit. For those not in the loop, a Lazarus Pit is used by Ra's Al Ghul for gaining restorative powers. Scenes of Bale being carried into the pit and then jumping out of it were also canned. A couple of locals were cast as extras in the scenes that were shot in India.

However, it was not all work and no play for the cast and crew of the film. "Despite the intense heat, filming
continued without a hitch and the unit was satisfied with its Indian experience. The unit is supposed to have complimented the professionalism of the On The Road production unit handling the Indian leg of the shooting. On Sunday, the unit had a day off. So, Bale, who was accompanied by two children, took an autorickshaw ride in Jodhpur. However, no one really recognized him since he was wearing a cap and was sporting a beard. Besides, the whole team also went shopping. Bale bought textiles, shawls and pashmina from Jodhpur. The team also loved Indian food that was served to them during the shooting," says a source.

The two day shoot in India is over. There have been conflicting reports over which actors were part of the shoot, but this confirms that both Josh Pence and Christian Bale were there. I've been skeptical of the Lazarus Pit rumors, but you can't deny them at this point. I think it's safe to say that a) Bane will break Batman's back, and b) Cortillard is really Talia. Although it's surprising that Nolan decided to film this scene first, and that Talia wasn't present.

Here's a picture of Pence in India, I couldn't find any of Bale.

                      And of the pit:

Granted these Indian newspapers aren't the best sources...

From Twitter. This is the location of the Gotham city police department in the previous two films.

Alon Aboutboul has been cast as a "mad scientist." While fanboy speculation may suggest that Aboutboul is playing Hugo Strange, I doubt there's room for Strange in the movie at this point. Odds are he's involved with Bane's origin.

In other news, The Dark Knight Rises will have a budget of at least 250 million, The Dark Knight only cost 185 million to make.

I wonder, did they want to release this? I mean, its kind of a big deal I'd think, and it looks pretty professional.

Also, I read something about his rumored origins and powers

Bane is discovered after Ra's burns down a village with the league of shadows --- every citizen completely wiped out -- they watch as the mayhem ensues.

However, before leaving, a young boy rises from a BURING PIT, the boy (young bane) is covered in flames.

Apparently, he doesn't even flinch which makes Ra's intrigued.

They take him in and teach him everything he knows So basically,

Bane's only real advantage is that he has a genetic mutation that makes him impervious to pain. No super strength or chemical enhancers (tht i was made aware of)ane is discovered after Ra's burns down a village with the league of shadows --- every citizen completely wiped out -- they watch as the mayhem ensues.
