They can go ahead and drop MTV and VH1 for all I care. I haven't watched either channel for years.`

Some of the 17 channels are well-known among customers: Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1, BET, CMT, TV Land, Comedy Central, Spike. But some of the others bundled with them are not, including Nick(AT)Nite, Nick Jr., TeenNick, NickToons, VH1 Classic, Logo, Tr3s, Centric and Palladia.

Now would be a time to threaten to drop to get cheaper prices on cable.

Dude, relax. You can find both shows online just fine.

Anyway, I didn't know TV Land was going to go to. Where else am I going to watch re-runs of I Love Lucy?

With the exception of Comedy Central, which has fallen way behind IFC and FX in terms of original comedy programming anyway, that is a pretty sad list of channels and I won't miss any of them in the least.

I stream 99% of the non-live television I watch from somewhere other than my cable box anyway.

Good for DirecTV for telling these chumps to eat a dick... Now just don't come to me with another rate increase in the next few months.

Derek Chang, DirecTV's executive vice president of content, said Viacom is "pushing DirecTV customers to pay more than a 30% increase, which equates to an extra $1 billion" for its channels. Chang went on to say that those increases are being sought "despite the fact that the ratings for many of their main networks have plummeted and much of Viacom’s programming can be seen for free online.”
That paragraph is game, set and match in my opinion.

Viacom has been putting out the same reality shows and syndication re-runs with cheap overhead and chocked them full of repetitive advertisements for years now just to turn profits. And now that people are sick of it and have stopped watching they try and mitigate their losses by charging more to watch their chap programming.

Theres a thread on another forum I visit where people are getting Sunday Ticket for FREE by using this as leverage.

Still a long ways away. If a deal gets done. I bet they are charged.

I gotta wait until September to use leverage when my contract is up. If still a dispute I will be doing that.

I did get Premier Channels for 75 dollars.

In a counter-attack against DISH, AMC is streaming Breaking Bad's premiere for free at the same time that it airs.

“AMC wants its loyal DISH viewers to experience the excitement of the Breaking Bad premiere at the same time as their friends and neighbors, and we want to give DISH customers an extra week to switch providers so they can enjoy the rest of the season.”

Maybe they'll do something like this with The Walking Dead.

I'm all for DirecTv not giving in to Viacom's crazy demands, but now that I have 15+ less channels I shouldn't be paying the same bill either.

I wish I knew what they were doing because the only thing I could get was $10 off per month for six months.
