The decade of the female vocalist

    Adele
Florence Welsh (Florence + The Machine)
    Lana Del Rey
    Jessie Ware
    Lykke Li
    Ellie Goulding
    Romy Madley Croft (The XX)
    Elly Jackson (La Roux)
    Yukimi Nagano (Little Dragon)
    etc.

Before this past year I would RARELY listen to female artists or bands with a female vocalist, but lately I've found myself listening to them almost more often than male artists. Was I just simply ignoring female talent or did they just happen to rise in popularity at the same time? Will we look back on 2011-2020 as the decade of the female artist?

The fact that Grace Potter is not on your list is of serious concern.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Ellie Goulding but her album was critically acclaimed so I figured she belonged on the list.

Why is it the decade of the female vocalist NOW?

2000's had better shit at the top.

were you born yesterday ? the 80s was full of female vocalists.

and LOL at you're first 3 choices.. I just youtubed and its the most generic, flat , unimaginitive, junk ive ever heard. Its obvious these are over produced and completely watered down attempts at being creative.

I can think of a ton of female vocalists from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. It's almost as if there have been a lot of successful female vocalists throughout the history of music.
