Before this past year I would RARELY listen to female artists or bands with a female vocalist, but lately I've found myself listening to them almost more often than male artists. Was I just simply ignoring female talent or did they just happen to rise in popularity at the same time? Will we look back on 2011-2020 as the decade of the female artist?

Bro, the ladies have been doing it for a long time now... over the last 10 years they've taken over the scene.
