"The Fast and the Furious" movie star Paul Walker, 40, has reportedly died in a car accident Saturday afternoon in southern California, reports TMZ.

The accident occurred in Santa Clarita — outside of Los Angeles — when Walker's Porsche apparently lost control and crashed into a tree, TMZ reported. The car burst into flames and exploded, TMZ reported.

Walker's Twitter account has confirmed the news.

I remember all the females back in middle school having a huge crush on him after that dog sledding movie.

    Celebrity Death Pool anyone?

EDIT: And it's been taken down.

Reading the story on cnn.com, then reading the comments is just sad. There are so, so many fucked up people in this world. Frankly, I think every Internet comment on a news site should be absolutely public, no anonymous posters. And this is on a site that uses Facebook posting. Ugh.

Running Scared was my favorite movie of his.

Also, I'm hearing that Liam Hemsworth will be replacing him in FF7 and the franchise will continue, thank god.

Not be insensitive or anything, but does anyone else find it ironic that he died in a car crash?

Kinda sad as he was doing something charitable, it's not like he was found OD'd in some hotel.
As for irony he died when his porsche exploded. That's like Will Smith getting run over by a cab with a license plate that said FRESH.
Best reason to have a license.
