Well I think it ties into the kids train of thought in connection with the abuse.
The Yellow King is the symbol they associated with their assault.
Also, the crown isn't in there by mistake. You are one of the people touting how meticulous this show has been since day one.

I rewatched this glorious piece of American television last Friday.
I say this without hesitation...best theme song of any HBO show ever. Handsome Family, FTW.
This show is so much better on a rewatch, and it was already amazing on the first go around. I didn't have to try and meticulously solve a riddle that didn't exist in regards to the The Yellow King...I could just sit back and enjoy. A+ acting performances. Give'em all da Emmys for acting.
But, with that said...what I love most about this show (other than Alexandria Doddario's epic bewbs, god damn I've fapped to those bewbs so many times).
It is mummified for all eternity.
McConaughey is not coming back. Neither is Woody. Neither is Monaghan. Nobody is. There is no Season 2 of this story. Its a self contained 8 episodes that tell a complete story. I will never be disappointed by this show, so I rest easily knowing I lived to see this piece of entertainment and it will never let me down.
True Detective is that awesome Summer Fling. You meet up, have a great summer with awesome times, great sex, cool chick to be with...summer ends and you just simply go your separate ways with a "see you later"...no disappointment...no heartbreak...no nothing. Just a self-contained great time. True Detective is THAT.
You don't get that in American TV too often.
So, for that...

Verrrrry curious as to how Colin Farrell & Vince Vaughn mesh together. I'm sure a good amount of people will be turned off by the Vaughn addition, but it should be interesting seeing him in this type of role. Of course, I expect Vaughn's comedic antics to be sprinkled in throughout the series (just as Woody's was from season 1).

I loved MM and woody but Collin ferrel is terrible in pretty much everything and Ill be very impressed if Vaughn pulls this off.
Not too optimistic but hoping for the best.Comment

Vaughn is kind of a crapshoot, because even his best stuff is hard to take seriously (not because he is bad per se, but just because his characters are all pretty much Vince Vaughn). There are movies that I think Vaughn is great in (Swingers, Made), but neither of them scream crime boss to me. I guess in the end I'm also hoping for the best.Comment

If Vaughn's character is creepy and dangerous without being his usual flamboyant self I think he'll surprise a lot of people. It really just depends on how the writer has written his character to be. He has the capability of being genuinely frightening if he gets rid of all the comedic undertones all of his previous roles have always had. We haven't really seen Vaughn in as serious a role as Rust's character was in last season.
I'm all for Vince Vaughn to get a chance in this, Colin Farrell on the other hand, is going to need some serious help from the writer to win over the audience. But if he's the character we're supposed to pull for and we're given clear reasons early on to do so, he has the acting chops to win people over. Either way there's a lot to live up to after that first season... Matthew McConaughey definitely set the bar astronomically high for these two new guys.Comment
