What a great game. Hamels once again showed the difference between last year and this year. 1st and 3rd , no outs, already 1-0 Braves, Hamels gets a K and a double play to end the inning. If that inning ends up 3-0 or 4-0, that game is completely different. I think that inning gave us big time momentum that we carried out the rest of the night.

Hamels has been absolutely incredible almost the whole season and especially for the past month or so. Now it's time for Halladay and Oswalt to bring down the hammer.

Prado had 2 GIDP last night, both of which absolutely killed our momentum. He was a stud for 5 months, but the last 3 weeks he's really been struggling.

I don't know if his hand is still bothering him or he just hit a wall due to getting a career high in ABs, but he's killing us right now.

I love Martin, but we need him to start hitting again.

I gave Hamels a lot of crap last season because:

1)He didn't prepare in the off-season, instead he went nuts with the pub appearances. They are fun, but he also should have been preparing. I think he learned that from Lee and Halladay.
2)His fat mouth. If you are not doing well, quit making excuses, own it and try fixing it. Philly Fans are patient as long as your humble when you are not doing well, just don't start making excuses. We will back your arrogant ass up when you are playing well out there
3)Stubborness on not developing a 3rd pitch. How many years did he really expect to dominate with 2 pitches? He even makes use of the curveball now! The cutter is bad ass though, someone was watching Pettite pitch in the WS last year.

He's been doing great with these issues this year and I am happy for him and the Phils. The guy is all-world and he just needs to be commited to working towards that to keep himself at the top of the pitcher rankings.

I think its not just Prado. Honestly not a whole lot of players on the Braves have such experience as being in a September race. Most of these guys didn't even know what post-season race smelled like before this season. That's why I was worried about Chipper, he's the vet who could have brought this guys together in the clubhouse and maybe just pushed himself out on the field a little more and the guys would have followed.

We had a similar issue with the Phils in 2007, when we took on the rockies and got killed.

I personally was a little irritated at Hamels performance/lack of preparation, but still, I could never really be mad at him because he basically won us a World Series.

As far as the fat mouth part Blade, what are you referring to? The only thing I recall Hamels saying last year was when he was in a funk in the playoffs and had said that he just wished the season were over (a comment blown TOTALLY out of proportion).
