I decided to hit the bar tonight instead of watch the game. Fucking glad I did. I find it amazing that less than 3 weeks ago we were 4 games up in the division, and now we're praying to make it as a wild card by the skin of our dicks.

Well, it's official now! NL East Champs for the 4th straight year! What a great job by Halladay tonight. Maybe cemented that Cy Young award with that performance.

Amazing that the last series vs. ATL won't mean anything. It'll be good to give the Big 3 a rest this final week, along with position players a day off here and there to end the season.

Looking forward to yet another post season run!!

Congrats to the Phils, you've earned it with your play the last few weeks. Hopefully we can still get into this postseason and meet you fucks in the NLCS.

Time to rest out of our starters. Enough of using our Top 3 for 9 innings at a time. Welcome to the post-season Doc, Sweeney and Schneider. Good to have you guys along Now.....

yep all three of Halladay/Hamels/Oswalt should be on like a 3 inning max if they pitch the rest of these games. Hopefully they'll sit Polanco for a few games since he's been having those elbow problems.

The only slight concerns I have entering the postseason:

-No true lefty specialist to get the tough lefties out in the late innings
-If one of our starters goes out early, our middle of the bullpen has been fairly weak

Hopefully though both don't need to be addressed a lot, or at all though in the postseason.

Prado will probably miss the rest of the season with a hip-pointer. Hopefully he can get back for the playoffs next week (LOL).

Brooks Conrad will man his position.

So here's the infield we'll be attempting to fight for a playoff spot with for the next 5 days:

                      Conrad, 3b
                      Gonzalez, ss
                      Infante, 2b
                      Lee, 1b

Wow. 2/4 of those guys are "journeymen" and A-Gon is pretty average. Lee is hitting well lately, but still not the stud he once was.

Then our outfield has 1 good player, who needs no intro, and then these three, ranging from shitty to average:

Rick Ankiel, Nate McLouth and Melky Cabrera.

Oh and we have Brandon Beachy permanently in the rotation now. Always good when you are relying on a guy with 2 weeks of service time to win meaningful games in September. Yup, that's the squad we're attempting to secure a playoff spot with

You guys sure Bobby Cox isn't manager of the year? He coaxed 90 wins out of this shit....

He's certainly got a better case than Manuel, that's for sure.

Tanking a 7 game lead in a month and a half is not MOY worthy.

True, but LOL at the Phillies even letting that lead get to 7 games considering the shit lineup we were trotting out for the past few months.

                              93 wins?

And as if the Phillies didn't have Howard, Victorino, Rollins, and Utley out for at least a month each...

Wilson Valdez was starting, since you want to play the name game.

Congrats on playing through all the injuries. But the Phils could afford to lose those players more than the Braves could afford to lose Chipper Jones for the season, or Jason Heyward for 1.5 months, or Martin Prado for the last month (should've hit the DL two weeks ago), or Kris Medlen for the year, etc.

Bobby Cox had the best record in baseball between April 30 and August 30, with his best player being a 21-year old and no other power to speak of outside of his catcher.

I've already given the Phils credit for winning with stopgap measures, including Wilson Valdez, but we've got Rick Ankiel, Brooks Conrad and Nate McLouth starting for us right now, and don't have the luxury of 3 of the game's best pitchers to lean on.

If Bobby gets this team through to the wild card, he has more of a claim on the MOY than Manual, IMO.
