As for the Braves, I thought Glaus would go to 3rd but forgot about Prado. So bench it is for the big man. Still Lee's bat doesn't scare me. He's a lifetime .237 hitter at Turner Field and has only hit 8 HRs there, pretty cruddy at Citi Field too. Not too hot at Land Shark either. He's a .300 hitter at Citizens so thats threatening, but those numbers are from when he was younger. With the Cubs he hasn't been the same player in the last year and a half.
What? Kendrick has been pretty damn good this season, Blade. I'm not sure what your expectations are for him, but for a 5th starter, his numbers are great. I can almost say I have more faith in him than Blanton at this point. Kendrick will definitely have a shitty start here and there, but he has given us some great performances this season.

I'll take a 4-4.50 ERA from our 5th starter all day, every day. We can't have 5 Halladay's in the rotation.

Plus, if we make the playoffs, those guys become less of a factor as the Phils switch to a 3 man rotation in a 5 game series and a 4 man rotation after that.

Yea but he's also terrible in half his games at the same time. Its ok now I guess since we are in the WC lead and only 2.5 games back from Atlanta, but a month ago we were almost 8 games back and this clown was blowing games left and right.

Its either excellence or a game where he's got you on the edge of the seat because you see him throw 25-30 pitches in 1 goddamn inning. He's just not consistent. For now this is all we have to put out there. Moyer would have been a kickass 5th starter, but he's out and now we had to trade JA Happ, because he's the only pitcher on staff at the time that had value enough for the Astros, obviously Hamels and Doc weren't goin to be moved.

I know in the playoffs he won't be pitching, but the dude's a head case. I hope there is a kid we can call up next spring that is way more reliable than him.

Its a close tie between Blanton and Kendrick, but Blanton has been hurt more by the offense behind him than Kendrick. Once Joe gets out of the first, hes cruising. Kendrick loses his mind when there are guys on base.

I hear ya, but that's what you're going to get from your 5th starter. If you look around the league, I bet not many 5th starters are having a better season than Kendrick.

The lack of run support for Cole is ridiculous this year. Grrr...

Fuck run support at this point. I'd be happy with them just getting some fucking hits. Although if memory serves, they seem to regularly get schooled by Sanchez.

5-4 loss...Oh well, got to get the series tomorrow afternoon. Mike Minor vs. Randy Wells.

Hanson seems to struggle early in games. Something he needs to work on, but I'm not too worried, we have a great shot at the series win tomorrow.

It would be nice if the Phils would win, on a night when the damn Braves lose. sick of this trend. Fuckin Kendrick.

Mike Minor was absolutely dealing today. 12 Ks, a rookie team record and three shy of the team record.

Heyward hit two bombs, Infante his a three run blast, and the Cubs played awful defense to send Lou Piniella out a loser.

                      It's 16-5 heading into the 9th.

Yeah that was pretty bad. That ump looked like he was a total d-bag about it too. Yet another instance where these guys are tripping on power. What would the harm have been to at least ASK the home plate umpire?

Also, less significant, but that same ump boned us shortly before that as it should have been 1-2 and not 2-1 as Michaels went on that pitch that Ruiz appealed.

I didn't watch the game at all eventhough it wasn't blacked out for me, which was a first in a long time. But this guy ejected Cholly in spring too, when he called Shane out at first for sliding into first and saying he left the basepath.

                              The dude's a numbskull.

Got Derek Lowe pitching tonight. Amazingly, he's 11-11 already on the season. Guy must not have a single no-decision all season to have recorded that many wins and losses.

Hopefully one of these two teams will finally get an opposite result of each other, getting tired of this lockstep.
