Really psyched about it, or at least I was. Thought it could put us over the top in the division, but with this latest news looks like we may be Wild Card bound again.

Uggla is a big addition to the middle of the lineup, especially because he's right handed, but it's still going to depend on if Chipper can stay healthy all year (lol, I know right?) and whether our back-end rotation can hold up better.

After losing to Tampa in the NFC Championship Game in '03, and losing to the Giants in the NLCS last year, I have learned not to assume anything. These guys still have to stay healthy, Utley has to have a bounce back year, Rollins has to find his game again, and Howard has to get back to his 08-09 playoff form.

I hate all of them. I hate any team that just stacks up on individual talent like this.

Take for example, the New England Patriots. They are the purest definition of a team and that's why I love their organization, even as a Raiders fan, because I admire the way they do business.
I thought you had a clue, but apparently I was wrong, since Shag has done the job already for me.....I shall abstain.

Ok well, I won't for a little bit....Also everyone doesn't hate the yankees JUST because they spend freely........its more the douchebag bandwagon fans they have, which is about 90% of that retarded fan base.

Also Howard, Utley, Rollins, Victorino, Werth, Chooch, Happ, Myers, Hamels, Madson all great players, all either are home grown Phillies or came through the ranks after trading for them.

As far as I'm concerned, this team was built the right way. The core of the team is home grown talent. The built a sucessful product on the field that won a World Series without any high priced free agents .

The roster is filled with good/great players that know how to win. The stadium is filled every single night. That is why players are coming here for less money.

As a fan I have a World Series, 2 NL pennants, 4 straight playoff appearances, and the best rotation in baseball going into 2011. Trust me, I'm happy to be a Phillies fan right now.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I can't root for these kinds of teams. If the Phils win the world series you guys won't be experiencing the joy and excitement that Giants fans just went through because it will be expected and no surprise really. Sure, you'll enjoy it, but it won't even be a big deal.

Just not as cool and special to me when a stacked team gets even more stacked and then wins a championship. But hey, enjoy it cuz you have no choice.

You like the underdogs. Now that the Phillies are expected to win the pennant, there's more pressure and room for disappointment.

As for it being "not as cool and special" to you....why would a Phillies win mean anything to you anyway?

Once you are a champion you expect to be a champion. We won in 80, hell I wasn't even born then, but my older cousins expected the Phils to win again next year. '94 was a surprise.

We expected to do big things in 08, we had just gone to the playoffs in 07, we knew our team was good, we had dominated that year. The win was more satisfying by the fact how long we waited for any championship in the city than being unexpected.

We have dominated the past couple years, and yes there's nothing wrong with expecting a champion every year. It's how you go about looking forward to it matters.

Do I think this is an automatic WS for us? No, but its fucking exciting after dealing with the doldrums of the Ed Wade Era, almost 15 years BTW, in which we would sit on our hand and do nothing at the Hot Stove and at the trade deadline we would endup with idiots like Omar Daal and Travis Lee.

We had out "cool and special" WS in 2008 dude. Remember? Besides, it's a silly notion to begin with. It's so damn hard to even get there, let alone win it, that any WS the Phils win regardless of their roster will be "cool and special". It's silly to think otherwise.

It'll be special to you guys, but it really won't be a surprise to the rest of the NL. It just takes a lot of the excitement and unpredictability out of sports when a team like this goes all the way.

I do root for the underdog, it is what I love about sports. Forgive me not jumping in joy over this and the realizing that the Phils are most likely winning the NL in December.

Again, this has nothing to do with the Giants. Hell, I'll be happy if the Giants even make the playoffs this season given that they made it on the last day of the season this year and needed a historic September run and some luck to get there. I just hope someone else can fill the role of spoiler and do what the Giants did, it's unlikely, but thats what makes it so much better.
