    Blyleven, Alomar inducted into HOF

    They got in.

    ESPN...

NEW YORK -- Roberto Alomar and Bert Blyleven have been elected to baseball's Hall of Fame.

Alomar and Blyleven were chosen Wednesday by the Baseball Writers' Association of America after narrow misses last year.

Alomar was picked on 90 percent of the ballots. He was a 12-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winner at second base.

Blyleven was listed on more than 79 percent of the ballots, above the 75 percent required for election. He won 287 games and ranks fifth on the career strikeout list.

Sluggers Rafael Palmeiro, Jeff Bagwell and Mark McGwire all fell below the 50 percent mark.

The induction ceremony will be held on July 24 in Cooperstown.

I'd love to see the voting breakdown of who voted for particular guys. There's some really low totals for guys that deserve WAY higher.

Bagwell will get in as long as it isn't proved he used. Thinking around 5-7 years...he will get a weak year and get in.

The fact that Larkin jumped up to 60 should be encouraging for him, but at the same time, what the fuck? He should have been in on the first ballot.

And without any proof that Bagwell did anything other than "be muscular" ... it's absurd not to let him in based on his resume.

I hate Hall of Fame voting.

All this first ballot, weak year bullshit.

Is the guy a Hall of Famer or not? Just fucking vote the deserving guys in. Stop playing this shitty game.

Larry Williams Walker only got 20% of the vote...surprising. Also very surprised that Blyleven got in, but he's deserving IMO.

                      Agreed.

Alomar goes from not getting in, to 90%. That's a joke. There are no "levels" in the Hall Of Fame, every gets the same plaque in the same room. Stop making irrelevent statements, and just vote for who you think belongs. These writers are so ridiculous.

It's about time for Blyleven. Well deserved.

I've got no qualms other than Larkin not getting in. Makes me wonder if the people voting even watch baseball.

Walker is no doubt a victim of lazy writers with a Coors bias. They should read the thread we have here.

                              This.

Really odd. Shocked by the poor showings of Bagwell and Raines.

Alomar was deserving Blyleven as well.

Larkin not getting in is a farce.

I agree on the Alomar thing too.How does the guy go from not getting in to 90%? I mean did he he all of a sudden become that much HOF worthy?
