actually the yankees had one of the better bullpens in the begining of the season. either way getting CC or peavy will help the yankees. i dont think they will lose them games, but the price is different for the two of them. its probably a better deal to spend the money on CC then trade away young talent for peavy.

FWIW, I figured out that Peavy's ERA when he plays at AL Ballparks, so against the AL, but not at home is 3.92, but that's only in 8 games, which inculded games agains Sea, Sea, TB where he allowed no runs (22 innings) and a shelacking by the Royals where he allowed 8 (3 innings)Comment

dont go by stats from 8 games. you can lok at all the stats you want you never know who someone is going to do

but I have to disagree that stats are a pretty good indicator, if someones ERA is a point higher on the road than at home, I think that is telling you somethingComment

hey yankee you came over! i agree with your post that this signing has to be better than the others..
you should probably get your knicks chise up if you plan on doing it, theres already a bunchComment

The reason I'm not as big a baseball fan in other sports is because teams have a considerable advantage over others in different sports. Yes, small market teams have won the World Series, but consistent success is easier for certain teams because they can flat out buy their way to a .500 or better record.Comment

I have heard that he will probably not sign with the yanks as he wants to stay on the west coast or in the NL but I am not 100 percent sure. I forgot where I heard it from though.Comment

don't get too worried. He's not making any decisions until winter meetings. And where has it been said the Brewers blew out his arm? He pitched through the entire season didn't he?
The Yankees so far have offered him the most money, but his ideal location is on the west coastComment

Sabathia dictates what happens this offseason if you think about it. If the yanks sign him then the angels will try to resign Krod or Tex. If the yanks dont sign him then the angels will be in the market for sabathia and the aynkees will try to sign derek lowe or AJ Burnett.Comment

Ok, so, the Yankees get C.C. Sabathia and they pay top dollar. You think C.C. won't just flop on you once he gets payed? Think about Manny when he left the Indians, he left for a bigger/better market, the guy just wanted the money he didn't want to go to Boston/New York/LA to win championships, Manny wanted the money.
C.C. is no different, I've watched him and seen just about every start since he was a rookie and Sabathia when he has control his dominant but there were times last year where he showed forms of his former self. When his curve and slider isn't working he just chucks fastballs until his arm goes out. Don't get all excited because C.C. might be coming to town. It doesn't matter how much the Yanks spend this off-season some hungrier, younger team is going to be there to challenge them.
This isn't the dominance days of the Yankees anymore, the tide has shifted. And picking up C.C. won't shift them back in your favor New York...he got owned by Boston in the 07 playoffs, he'll get owned by Boston again.25-02, 23:16 Yawkey Way celtics fucking suckComment

Yankees have had their offensive playoff struggles, but a guy like CC can revamp a whole team.
Just see what he did for the Brewers.
I know CC shows signs of how young he is sometimes, but once he matures, he should turn into an ace of any pitching staff.
All about the money? I am not so sure about that. I think you are just assuming. Nobody is like Manny Ramirez! Manny is Manny!
Also, just because the Yankees get CC, not a fact, does not mean that they will be a contender. They still need more pitching and they still need a dominant set up guy to get to Rivera.
The Yankees also need Swisher to turn out to be their best acquisition of the offseason. I do not know what to think about him, but this could be a good move for the Yankees. It all depends on which Swisher the Yankees get. The 2006 one or the 2008 one. Hopefully the 2006 one with a bit of a better batting average.
Swisher is a great bat, I've liked him since day one and I'm a Swisher mark when it comes to him as a single player not who he plays for. Personally though I think they're setting up for Texiera to wind up in Los Angeles and then imagine that line-up :jhenbeatkwon:25-02, 23:16 Yawkey Way celtics fucking suckComment

"Are the Yankees headed for another Randy Johnson situation when dealing with CC Sabathia? Johnson orchestrated his way out of Arizona to The Bronx for one reason: Yankee dollars. As Johnson discovered, money often doesn't buy happiness in New York. Now it appears Sabathia, who is light years ahead of Johnson as a teammate and person, may only land in the new Yankee Stadium because of the $140 million offered across six years. Though Sabathia's wife, Amber, would like her husband to pitch for the Giants, and though the Angels have the money, neither club has shown a strong interest in the 28-year-old lefty, who went 17-11 with a 2.70 for the Indians and Brewers last year.Comment
