Pujols is looking for a long-term deal that should stretch to the end of his career, or close to it. TLR was going to retire within the next few seasons anyways, which would give Pujols another manager to play for during the middle of his contract.
If Pujols doesn't re-sign with St. Louis this off-season, it's simply because of the years/money. Not because LaRussa called it quits.

But I still don't think LaRussa leaving affects Pujols's negotiations at all. Like I said, he was going to have to go through a managerial change anyways in St. Louis because Tony wasn't staying during the duration of a new Pujols contract.
