Rumor is the Marlins are bidding against themselves and have upped their offer to Jose Reyes to 6 years 111 million.

The Brewers are expected to meet with Reyes' agent tomorrow. Please don't even consider matching it Doug Melvin.

Reyes will be a Marlin it looks like. Could either be really dangerous or blow up in their face.

Gob, sometimes you worry a bit too much about other rich peoples money.

I'd jack off all over myself if the Reds signed Reyes, and worry about the financials later.

Then again, in your shoes, i'd rather have Fielder back.

            SS - Jose Reyes
            2B - Omar Infante
            CF - Hanley Ramirez
            RF - Mike Stanton
            1B - Gaby Sanchez
            LF - Logan Morrison
            C - John Buck
            3B - Matt Dominguez

Not a bad lineup if Hanley returns to form, and Infante finds a middle ground between his season with the Braves, and his normal form.

I worry about whether or not the Brewers have what it takes to remain competitive for long periods of time. With a contract, along with the teams other guaranteed contracts, I have serious doubt as to whether the Brewers will be able to retain their young talent in the future.

And more importantly, if the Brewers sign Reyes, there's no way they can resign Zack Greinke.

Sandy Alderson is speaking to the media in an hour...unless Reyes doesn't want the Marlins money, he's gone.

Fuck...I'm most disappointed in the fact the Mets won't get a legit 1st round pick.

Yeah this is honestly ridiculous. The Padres get an extra first pulled out of thin air for Heath Bell, and the Mets get a third round pick for Jose Reyes. Absurd.

Brewers are very interested in A-Ram and Rollins according to Olney.

                    He said:

Wrote this morning that Brewers interested in Jimmy Rollins; they like his defense, like how he could fit in different parts of lineup.

Sign Rollins and A-Ram please. Rollins, Morgan, Braun, A-Ram, Weeks, Hart, Gamel, Lucroy is legit.

Why settle for Rollins and A-Ram when you can sign Prince Fielder, Jose Reyes, and Michael Cuddyer!?!

Marlins are the favorites for Pujols, Reyes and Buehrle.

So the Brewers can offer Fielder 100 million, Reyes 80 million but they can't take on A-Ram and Rollins contract?

You really think the Brewers wouldnt get both even if they could? Furcal and A-Ram is probably a lot more realistic, but the Brewers def. have enough money to sign both. If they are willing to pay Fielder 20 million a year, why couldnt they sign A-Ram and Rollins for about 20 million a year combined.

                          Please explain.

3 M+ fans went to the ballpark last year, they won 96 games and were 2 games away from the W.S. You don't think they are going to try and make a big splash to make up for Fielder? Rollins is a great SS, even if he's getting older. He is a MUCH better option than Betancourt, and a huge upgrade. A-Ram plays 3B and McGehee platoons with Gamel at 1B.

                            Did you guys see this:

There's lots of skepticism over Albert Pujols' claim that he is 31 years old, tweets Jon Heyman of SI. Heyman writes that the slugger may not be able to top the Cardinals' nine-year, $200MM offer if he cannot produce a birth certificate.

I thought it was just accepted as fact that he's not whatever he claims in terms of age.

Once again who is more valuable to the Brewers? It has to be Zack Greinke. Being able to resign Zack Greinke should be the number one priority.

Sure you can fit Prince Fielder's contract into the payroll in 2012, but that's with Ryan Braun making 6 million. The long term situation would be a mess, and the organization simply wouldn't be able to resign Zack Greinke or other big name players in the future.
