Sox could be close to bringing Papi back. 1 year deal with raise from $12.5 mill or 2 year deal around $10 mill per are on the table for him to choose.

Not bad either way. Though if I am Ortiz, I would wait until the bigger free agent fish sign elsewhere, because his value as a consolation prize could be pretty high.

I don't think that matters as much to him. He's made it known Boston is where he wants to be.

Other news, Rox and O's are having discussions for Huston Street per Jon Morosi.

Wonder if that means the Orioles will also be open to trading Gregg, or if they plan to hold onto him as well. Adding another reliever like Street is indicative of Jim Johnson moving into the starting rotation, though.

MLB.com's Mark Sheldon hears from a source that the Reds' interest in Jurrjens has been overblown, and that Cincinnati doesn't appear to be going hard after the right-hander.

God dammit. Don't they not know Jurrjens is a young Greg Maddux?!?

Angels have emerged as favorites for CJ Wilson per Bob Nightengale.

Red Sox and A's will discuss Andrew Bailey on Tuesday per Danny Knobler.

EDIT: Wilson talks are really heating up, Angels making push, Marlins said to be as aggressive as anyone.

                        Todd Coffey. LOL.

Marlins offered Albert a 10 year deal sources are saying. Much like A-Rods. Theyre giving it their all...

I am stunned that the Marlins have somehow come across this money in one season. Unless of course, they've been crying poor the whole time and just lining their pockets, which is why the SEC is investigating their stadium deal.

^^^I was wondering the same thing about how they suddenly had the dough to sign Bell, Reyes, and possibly Pujols...amazing.

Miami is the place to go for sports these days....too bad the Phin's lost out on the Luck sweepstakes.

Kevin Slowey to the Rockies for PTBNL or cash. He was a non-tender candidate so I wouldn't expect much in return.

MLBN was talking about it some yesterday. They finally will have stadium revenue, they weren't getting much money at all before from TV, no stadium ad money, etc. So a lot of this money is coming from having their own park and not using someone else's.
