I am shocked that a team would offer Pujols a 10 year deal. This guy could be 35 years old for all we know.

The Cubs are eyeing Fielder more than Albert Pujols, tweets Jon Heyman of MLB Network. The Cubs won't do nine or ten years for Pujols.

The Cardinals do not expect to get an opportunity to match or beat an offer from another team before Pujols accepts, hears Derrick Goold of the Post-Dispatch.

Pujols is a monster...the $20 mil a year that he is paid will be made up in attendance, season ticket sales, merchandise...etc. He will pay for himself.

It's funny I questioned his age back when he came up it was around the time of the Danny Almonte scandal was big, but it seemed like everyone was against me, I'll rotflmao if I was right all along.

Jon Heyman says the Marlins' offer to Pujols is for 10 years. Elsewhere, I've heard they are hesitant to include a no trade clause (red flag?), but ownership is really banking on money from the new ballpark.

They'd deal Gaby Sanchez if they could sign Pujols.

And the suitors for Sanchez would line up. He still has some prime years left and put up good numbers despite a pitchers park. I know I would like the Orioles to look at Sanchez if this happens, and they have a good relationship with the Marlins FO so that could be a possibility.

                Even when he's 40?

I've always believed he's at least 2-3 years beyond what he says.

I always thought he was way, way too advanced for a 21 or 22 year old when he came into the league.

My boy is the person who broke the Pujols story...says 10y/225M...if they get Pujols they'll trade Gaby...

Tampa for Wade Davis or Brauny is pushing for Milwaukee to get him.

                    We'll see.

I still don't believe Pujols in Miami...but, after LeBron took his talents to souf beach, who knows?

                      Here is Buster Olney's take:

"Is there worry that within a few years, the team will be forced to sell off parts, like a failed haberdashery? Absolutely," Olney writes. "It's difficult to find baseball people outside of Miami who believe that fans are going to suddenly fill the new ballpark in a way they never filled the old ballpark."
They are banking on having a winning club. Who knows how this will go to be honest. Combine that with a lot of sports teams in Florida are struggling in attendance because of it being a transplant area, and there are plenty of question marks right now.

It's a one to two year honeymoon period with most new stadiums. Once the mystique wears off it's back to the same old shit.

They always cite the bad weather, rain and stadium to why there were no fans but the amount of fans talking on message boards, blogs, etc. is the worst in the league.

They'll never pack the stadium unless opening weekend or its late in the season and playoffs. When they were going to the World Series, they were not selling out the stadium, sadly.

Miami has a lot of Marlins fans...they just don't go to the games.

Most fans in the stadium are when the Yankees or Mets show up.

Hate to bring Bonds in it..but yeah...Bonds sold tickets when he was old...no reason the clean Pujols can't.

Oh hell yeah. Miami will just end up dealing pieces in 2-3 years...which is one reason why Pujols may be hesitant to sign without a no trade clause.

Unless Miami really ups their money or offers the NTC, I think he'll sign with STL.
