Josh Hamilton is ancient history. Volquez fell apart, you can't win them all, and if Latos contributes to a playoff team or two it's all good. They need to move on already.

Volquez was done here, lets face it. We all knew it in July. If he turns it around, so be it. He wasnt making our rotation anyway.

Alonso. Yeah, i think he can rake. Left handed Edgar Martinez, best case. But Latos was the best guy on the market and can be a legit stud who isnt going anywhere for four years, and is cheap. Gotta give up something to get something.

Three of the guys we traded were useless to us this year, and we've got a chance at this thing. Glad you came to your senses. I bugged out at first too, but Walt got the best guy out there and when you break it down it makes sense for both sides.

Its like Buster Olney said, if the Reds win the Central this year or next, the trade was an absolute win.
Sure, some people are going to say that the Reds overpaid. Still, you have a lot of service time out of Latos and an intense starter, which is needed in that division.

Your prospects also lost value in this deal. People knew that the Reds wanted to move Alonso, they knew that the Reds had two catching prospects to move. The value would have been much higher if the Reds actually had Alonso starting every game last year, or only had one top catching prospect. Jocketty dealt with that disadvantage but still came out with a top player.

As far as Volquez is concerned, he should not be a concern with this deal. It was clear the Reds were done with him, and he will get a fresh start at Petco. While this means he might have great numbers, it wasn't with the Reds and they needed to get him a new team.

Plus Hamilton is a free agent after this season anyway. You have Latos for the next four.

Can one of your teams give the White Sox three good prospects for John Danks?

                Thanks guys.

Rangers may have won the rights to negotiate with Darvish.

Figured they were going to be the highest bidder after losing CJ and Albert signed with the Angels.

                        Pardon me while I

I still can't believe that, after the Dice-K fiasco, that some team is going to give Darvish's team over $50 million just for negotiating rights, and then probably pay over $50 million for a contract when he has yet to pitch a game against an MLB team.

Over $100 million for Darvish is nuts. This is, for all intents and purposes, a rookie pitcher who has experience against some talent, but not the best. This would be like signing Sam Bradford, Cam Newton or Andrew Luck to a $100 million contract coming out of college.

Will it work out? Perhaps? Is it worth it? Absolutely not. This posting system and the way some international free agents are handled needs to be fixed- it is worse than the NFL draft was before the lockout happened.

                        Oh yeah..........

Agree with the above. International draft please.

FYI, Darvish wants a 5 year, 75 million dollar deal. So they are going to pay 125+ million to Darvish if they sign him.

They should have just given that to Wilson or Buerhle, or put it all towards Fielder.
