I liked Frank McCourt's statement. Basically told Boras to go pound sand. I don't know what more Manny/Boras want. Manny receives a guaranteed $25mm this season and control's his own destiny for next season. If he tears the cover off the ball - he can opt out and open himself up to the highest bidder...again. If he has a down year, he can pick up his option and guarantee himself $20mm for next season. Not sure what more he wants.

In a way I'm flat out shocked the Cubs haven't at least got involved. Soriano said he'd be willing to move back to 2nd if the got him.

Well thats just Bonds being Bonds, who the fuck is manny anyway.

I want two things for Christmas
1- Please dont let my Angels get involved now
2 - let Manny sit and rot this season.

Maybe the greatest hitter of our generation and a lock for being a 1st ballot HOF'er.

I agree. Greatest hitter of our generation and maybe the great right handed hitter of all time.

I know who he is but to act like this, he's no team player, a cancer and I wouldnt want him on my team. I think people will look back on this shit when its vote time. I still think Bonds was/is the most dangerous hitter in out generation. Who cares about Roids, he still had to put the bat on the ball.

I LOVE Bonds and used to prescribe to the "still had to put the bat on the ball" but I've talked to a lot of baseball players and they all say the same thing. A lot of guys can put the bat on the ball but a lot of them end up flying out to deep left or right field. Some juice gets that fly over the fence. That said, I'm still a huge Bonds fan and agree that he's one of the best we'll ever see.

                    The baseball writers vote....

Manny helped them make a living with stories like this. Writers LOVE Manny. He makes them money.

Then again after Bonds first injury filled year in '99 he started roiding hardcore. I don't blame Griffey for geting hurt. He played an all-around better game than Bonds, stayed cleaned, and was the best player I have ever seen.

Word is that now, the deal hit a snag b/c McCourt and Colleti wanted to defer the money in the option year. Basically Manny/Boras wanted that money paid in full during the option year.

With that now coming to light, I can understand why Manny may have rejected the offer. McCourt basically asked Manny to extend the Dodgers a line of credit. Not saying, I agree with Manny on his decision, but, I can see why he may not accept.
