Harold Reynolds said that Miguel Cabrera is his AL MVP because he "moved to 3B". He failed to mention that Cabrera has been terrible there.

I took a stroll through the ajc.com comments section to make me feel better about the Braves. I uncovered some great suggestions for Frank Wren about where he should go with the future of the club.

"Lets sign Justin Upton to bat lead off and replace Bourn in CF."
      1. Move Prado to 3rd. Wren knows Prado is best in the infield.
      2. Do NOT sign McCann. He’s done. He’s going to miss significant time no matter who gets him next year. We could use his salary for so much more good.
      3. Sign Josh Hamilton to three years 50 millions, with a team option. He’ll replace McCann’s left-handed bat in the middle of the lineup.
CUNNINGHAM and HANSON for LF ALEX GORDON
"Willingham just had his first 100 RBI year, had 98 last year. Closest he was before that was in ‘07 when he had 89… I think he’ll probably get 75-90 RBIs if he were with us next year. He’ll be 34. Slugger. Decline."
"Give you guys one name ….Mark Trumbo.. who would you trade to get him?"
OF OSCAR TAVERAS is a AA CARDS prospect I like. I’d give up SPRUILL and LAMM for TAVERAS.
I am actually hoping Colorado is so enamored with 30 taters they flinch hard and bite on Uggla, Hanson, Teheran(will never be what he is hyped to be), and Pastornicky for CarGO
trade uggla and hanson and prospects to arizona for justin upton sign bj upton and jeff keppinger and try to sign kyle lohse.
      1 keppinger 2b
      2 prado 3b
      3 heyward rf
      4 j upton lf
      5 freeman 1b
      6 bj upton cf
      7 mccann c
      8 simmons ss

      1 medlen
      2 hudson
      3 lohse
      4 minor

23 and 24-year-old AA pitchers for the best offensive prospect in baseball? Even moneyman wouldn't suggest something like that.

Three years 50 million is more jewy then the hypothetical gob offer. I said in the chatbox a few days ago I would go 4/ 68 million for Hamilton.

I know I would be hyped about acquiring the Upton's, Jeff Keppinger, and Kyle Lohse.

Those moves sound like something the Royals would do before they committed to their youth movement, when they would go out and sign bargain bin FA's every year like Reggie Sanders & Mark Grudzielanek.

This is a nice little piece from a Philly.com article

As for third base, I still don't get why using Carlos Ruiz there for at least 30 games next season is not considered; why he wasn't taking grounders there at season's end. It enables you to get the bat of Erik Kratz into the lineup more often, gives you a read on how serviceable Chooch - who once was a second baseman - would be there.

They overpaid to get Meche, but he ended up shocking the world and working out pretty well. He had two pretty good years in 2007 & 2008, and when he got hurt, he gave the rest of the money back anyway.

Oh I know, but you can also argue a team that was that far away from contention would have been better served using that money elsewhere.

However, the Royals look like they want to do a similar offer again this year, but I think they should look at doing some Tampa Bay-type contract extensions for their younger guys. This is a team that is going to improve, and they need to keep them together as long as possible.

Surprised nobody has yet laughed at the one guy's suggestion to make Jeff Keppinger our everyday 2b and let him bat leadoff.

Also Woy I had never even heard of one of the two prospects that one dude would be "willing to trade" for Taveras, and the other one, Spruill, is pretty "meh" himself.

I'm watching MLB Network reruns of MLB Tonight (nothing else on tv on Sundays), they were talking about who the best free agent catcher was, and Larry Bowa said AJ Pierzynski, because he will give you the most offense. :michaelscott:

Also, Harold Reynolds said that the Rockies MUST trade Tulo this offseason if they ever want to be competitive again.

Harold Reynolds on the James Shields trade:
"The Royals need to win 18 more games to get to 90. They just need Davis and Shields to win 9 games each."
