Bruuuuuuuuce
Bruce leads all MLB lh hitters in HR vs lhp over the last three seasons.
Also, Chapman threw a change up today. 90 mph. Faster than Arroyo's best fastball (89).Comment

Mark Sheldon @m_sheldon
Chris Valaika and Jordan Smith were sent outright to AAA Louisville. It means they are now off of #reds 40-man roster.
This means the Reds have two spots open. One is for Cingrani. The other...? There is hope for Hamilton!Comment

RT @JoeMLanza @johnfayman Reds just opened up two 40-man slots...one for Cingrani, one for ??? Hope for Hamilton stays alive//That's a fact
John Fay @johnfayman
Jocketty said the extra 40-man spot in not for Hamilton. No plans to call him up. #reds

Maybe they don't want to waste an option year if he doesn't make the big club out of ST? Still dumb reasoning, if so.

The reason being given is they want to send him to Arizona Fall League to learn how to play OF, and don't wan't to waste a month where he will likely only pinch run.
I'm of the opinion that he should be on the roster right now, pinch running exclusively until they clinch and getting a taste of the bigs. Once they clinch, give him a game or two at SS and let him have a few AB's.Comment

DiDi Gregorious, the man who is pushing Hamilton to the OF, makes his major league debut at SS today (Cozart out - stiff back).Comment

Reds leadoff hitters are slashing .206/.248/.326
The BA & OBA are good for dead last in baseball.
With Votto back, Phillips moves to leadoff. Phillips is slashing .296/.333/.451, making his OPS roughly 200 points higher (!) than what the Reds have gotten out of the leadoff slot. Crazy.Comment

Astros have played more games against the Reds than any other team (836), because the Reds are the only team that has always shared a division with them. These could be the last three games these teams play against one another for many years.Comment

The magic number is...
If the Reds go .500 the rest of the way, the cards must go 21-2...just to tie.
