Cains ERA+ is 125. Bumgarner is 102. Cueto is 151. Latos is 121. Arroyo and Bailey 112. Yes keep talking about Giants pitching. #reds

So how about Dusty tonight? Tested immediately, 8 pitches into the postseason. Cueto goes down, Latos is BEGGING to come into the game (by the way, fuck any Reds fans who gave up on this guy in April...Latos was great from May on, and was gutsy in a big time spot on short rest tonight), and instead of either A.) turning the game over to Alfredo Simon, or B.) rushing Latos into the game, Dusty calmy sent Sam LeCure into the game to bide time while Latos went through his normal pregame routine. Latos comes in for the 3rd, and shuts down the Giants for four solid innings.
Handled perfectly by Dusty, and Latos showed some guts and was huge in the big spot.
Big big win because Bumgarner always beats the Reds. Now Sunday is house money, Reds got the split, Giants have to come win two in Cincy. Reds can play loose tomorrow and let the Giants play tight.Comment

Cueto says he'll be fine for Game 3.
If Reds win tmw, up 2-0 i'd go Homer Bailey on Tuesday and back up Cueto to Game 4.Comment

If Cueto says he can go, let him go Game 3. If something happens, you have Bailey ready. Have to go for the throat right now and not give SF any life. Let Cueto go out there, be an ace, and try to finish these guys off.
Dusty has handled this entire series to perfection. Rolen proving why he should be starting, Stubbs running down everything in that gigantic CF & producing at the plate, and every pitching move has been the correct one.Comment

Incredible season. This team was very fun to watch. Tied for the most wins in the major leagues despite not having Joey Votto for 2 months. Ryan Madson, big off-season acquisition never threw a pitch, and we still won the division. Growing up all the Reds teams I have become used to watching could not pitch for shit. This year was great to watch because our pitching was phenomenal from top to bottom all year long. Sure the team had it's offensive struggles from time to time, but when everyone in this lineup was hitting during our 22-2 stretch it was something special to watch. Those games made me a believer that this could be a very special year. In the end we came up short after blowing a 2-0 lead with 3 games at GABP. It's a painful way to end the season, but I still am happy for such an exciting season from this team. Plus, everyone is still here. We will be back next season.
Go Reds. I love this team.Comment

I'm not sure what the general consensus about Ryan Ludwick is but I hope we don't offer him a multi-year deal. He declined the mutual 1yr/5M option which is fine. I love the guy, and would have been happy had he came back under that contract. However rumor has it he wants a 2 year deal for more money probably.
People gotta remember he was GOD AWFUL the first month and a half [he was hitting .170 at one point]. He also didn't do shit after mid August until the playoffs. He had an insane 6 week stretch, but looking at his numbers from 09-11, chances are he will regress back to those numbers. The guy is 34 years old so locking him up for 2 more years seems silly to me.
Thanks for everything Ludwick, but I don't think it's a wise team move to lock him up for a few years.Comment

My stance on Ludwick has been clear - let him walk, especially if he declined the one year option.
I wouldn't have been happy, but I could have lived with the one year option. There is virtually no chance he repeats his success this year, let alone for two years. Use that $5M and find another veteran, or run Heisey out there. Hamilton is coming and might end up being a left fielder anyway.Comment

I got 3.38 on a bunt single by Hamilton, best I have ever got on a hitter! @MLBazFallLeague #AFL12Comment
