Francis looked great today. 7 IP 2 ER 3H. He had given up 1 hit through 6. Wonder where he will find himself to start the season on this club.

Rumors of Paul Janish possibly being dealt to the Phillies.

Also, rumors that the Reds are talking to Arizona, but the players involved are unspecified.

It was pretty clear the Reds would have to make some moves, lets see if they manage to pull something off.

I'm assuming the haul for Janish won't be much. I am intrigued by that Arizona rumor though because it could mean we are looking to deal Bailey to free up a spot for Chapman in the rotation. I'm not familiar with the Dbacks do they have any extra bullpen arms we could possibly trade for?

“I’ve been a Red for 10 years now,” Joey Votto tells John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “I don’t daydream about playing for another team. I don’t.” Votto is scheduled to hit free agency after 2013 but again reiterated that he hopes to remain with the Reds and is only focused on the upcoming season.

              I don't think the D'Backs need a starter.

Touche. Like I said, I don't know shit about Arizona. We shall see I suppose. The decision on Chapman has to be announced very shortly I would think.

                  Kennedy
                  Hudson
                  Cahill
                  Collmenter
                  Saunders

Stephen Drew is hurt, so i'm guessing the D'Backs, like the Phillies, are interested in one of our many reserve IF's.

Reds can no longer option Leake and have him back in time to start April 11. A player can not be recalled for at least ten days after being sent down.

                      ...and we have a trade.

The Braves acquired third baseman Juan Francisco from the Reds in exchange for right-hander J.J. Hoover, according to a press …

Juan Francisco to Atlanta for minor league pitcher JJ Hoover.

Francisco was out of options, and was not going to make the team, so they got something for him.

GREAT news for Todd Frazier. Francisco has that power potential, but Frazier plays 6 positions and is the far better fielder.

Reds might not be done dealing.

Reds fans going apeshit again all over the internet.

I just don't get it. Francisco has been clogging the roster for two years now. He's a bad 3B, can't stay healthy, only plays one position, and came to camp fat. He wasn't going to make the team, and he wasn't going to clear waivers. They had to move him.

Hoover is the Braves #13 prospect. 24 years old, projects as a RP at this point but was a starter until last season.

I expected a Jonny Gomes like package of trash since the Reds had no leverage, but this guys seems decent and may actually see the roster at some point.

While Hoover has had some success as both a starter and a reliever, he really took off in 2011 with a move to the bullpen. Between Double-A and Triple-A, he compiled a 0.79 ERA with 47 strikeouts and just 17 hits allowed in 24 innings of relief. His experience as a starter makes him a better pitcher, and he showed more than enough fastball and slider to compete in a big league bullpen soon.

I don't know why people are mad over Francisco being dealt. Dude came into camp 18 pounds overweight, and aside from his occasional moonshot home run he does not bring much to the table. Good move for Cincy. I also really like Frazier. He is extremely versatile, and has been raking this spring [leads the club in HR and RBI]

Baker flat out said today that Francisco would not have been dealt if he had options.
