Your understanding of UZR seems to be as bad as your thoughts on BABIP. Small sample size yes, but it shows he has been absolutely brutal with his glove.

But using UZR to point this out is extremely flawed seeing as how the creators of UZR have said, numerous times, that it takes three years of data to really use it to determine anything.

Harper is painful to watch in the OF right now because he has no idea how to read the ball off the bat. It seems he starts off in the wrong direction or hesitates way too long on nearly every ball hit to him. He'll learn that with time though.

Is two months of data enough to be able to predict Harper's defensive performance for the rest of his career? Probably not. But it still says he has been terrible so far, and jumping to conclusions is fun.

It's kind of like when Slateman first started posting in the MLB section, everyone laughed and jumped to the conclusion that he didn't know shit. Maybe Harper will improve and be a great outfielder, but he could also pull a Slateman and continue to be terrible.

That one Granderson hit to him in the 4th inning was scary. If he isn't so huge that ball is over his head for an easy triple. Mike Morse's arm is overcooked spaghetti at this point too.

I feel Trout has just more than likely had MUCH better coaching throughout his life. Bryce Harper looks like he's never been taught anything about baserunning or defense. Give him a year and Harper will have the gap closed

Yeah but you have to account that a year prior, Mike Trout was facing HS pitchers while Bryce Harper had been facing college kids with a wood bat. At the plate Harper has been much more prepared to transition at 19 years old. It's the rest of his game that is needing work

No matter Harper's defensive ability, Heyward is one of, if not the, best defensive RF in baseball according to both numbers and humans, so it was a painfully dumb parallel to draw.
