Just to expound on this point, Bourn has played in every game except one this season. He leads the league currently in plate appearances and at bats. He also, as you all know, has won the SB crown the last three seasons.

So, in other words, Mike Trout has one more steal through 230 PA/51 G than the three-time defending stolen base champion has through 330 PA/72 G.

        And he's slashing .338/.399/.531

OMG .... I laughed so hard
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

Off Day? Mike Trout doesn't do off days.

              From the OC Register http://www.ocregister.com/sports/bat...rout-year.html

Mike Trout took over the AL lead in batting average Monday night, without even putting on a uniform.

The Chicago White Sox's Paul Konerko went 0 for 3 in a 4-1 loss at Minnesota, dropping his average from .341667 to .33745 (82 for 243).

Trout's solo homer in the fourth inning Friday night broke a 5-5 tie against the Dodgers.

Trout is batting .33816 (70 for 207). He only just became eligible for the batting crown last week, reaching the required number of plate appearances -- 3.1 for each of his team's games.

Trout and the rest of the Angels flew to Baltimore on Monday to begin a two-game series against the Orioles at Camden Yards on Tuesday night, the start of a nine-game road trip. He went 2 for 5 in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Dodgers, extending his hitting streak to seven games.

The 20-year-old rookie outfielder has taken the American League by storm since a few days after his April 27 call-up from Triple-A. He went just 1 for his first 11, but since then he's hitting .352. In 51 games he has 43 runs scored, seven homers, 13 doubles, 29 RBI and a league-leading 21 stolen bases.

His biggest contribution can be seen in the standings, however: His infusion of energy has helped the Angels go 34-19 since a dismal 6-14 start.

The fact that Trout, who turns 21 on Aug. 7, is leading the race for the batting crown only bolsters a campaign by fans on his behalf to get into the All-Star Game. Read more about that complicated process here.

The youngest batting champions in major league history were Al Kaline and Ty Cobb, both of whom led the AL as 20-year-olds, though Kaline was 12 days younger when he accomplished the feat. Cobb hit .350 when the 1907 season ended on Oct. 6 of that year; Kaline was at .340 when the 1955 season ended on Sept. 25 of that year. Both men played for the Detroit Tigers.

Great read on the scouting and drafting of Trouty, on 21st his birthday of course.

                              (very long)
