Rumblings over the past couple days say Dickey is looking for more money than the Mets are willing to give him. MetsBlog says he may be looking for 4 years & $50 million while the Mets are looking for 2 years & $20 million. Meanwhile, the NYDN says the Mets believe they can sign him to an extension for cheaper than $12 mil a year for 3 years.
HOWEVER, Ken Rosenthal and Jon Heyman say the Mets are gauging the trade market at the GM meetings in the event they cannot reach an agreement. They're looking for a catcher & outfielder in return for the Cy Young winner according to Heyman.
I wouldn't want them signing him to anything longer than 3 more years and even $12 million/per may be pushing it. Giving that kind of deal to a 38 year old knuckleballer? meh. Besides, the team is not winning anytime soon so if they can somehow manage to get two starters elsewhere, JUMP ON IT!
