Miggy wins MVP. Baseball nerds everywhere revolt.

I figured Cabrera would end up winning but I was shocked he ran away with it like he did.

No one ever claimed baseball writers were the first to enter the modern age.

Not like we didn't see this coming with the Gold Glove going to Adam Jones
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

It's not really "baseball nerds" though, it's just people who are not ignoring defense and base running. Anyway, I think Raul Ibanez appearing on a ballot is a bigger problem.

Tough/stupid question by ESPN(not surprised) really. It's not as though Miggy was undeserving of the award.

I can't find it anymore, but it was a good article that appeared on ESPN from one of the voters in Seattle, who decided to cast his ballot for Trout. Brought up a lot of things, but the best part was doing the math to add his stolen bases as doubles to his OPS, and then Trout would come out to be higher than Cabrera's. Trout also had his season in fewer games than Cabrera, and his team ended with more wins, but didn't make the playoffs.

In any other season, Cabrera would have been deserving of that award. 22 of 28 first place votes for Cabrera though is ludicrous. It should be much closer than that.

I would have voted for Miggy in either of the last two seasons, by the way. He was very deserving this year as well, but I felt Trout was the clear-cut winner, given that he was the best player in the game this season.

I guess I'm the only guy that thinks Miggy winning it was the right call.

We're not nerds. We're fans with brains.
