Simmons batting 1st is indefensible. Nothing else I really fault Fredi for, some guys are just not producing, but his one mistake with lineup construction is a huge one that is impossible to get past.

Hard to construct a lineup when you have no stars

What's this? The Braves have scored 50 more runs than the Nationals?

Nolasco makes his Dodgers debut on Tuesday in Arizona, and then his first game in the home whites will be on Saturday.

Reds fans are the latest batch to rally around "FIRE THE HITTING COACH!", which is beyond stupid and never changes anything.

Hitting coaches do nothing and are nothing more than fall guys. So go ahead, fire Brook Jacoby if you want, it won't do anything.

Hitting coach means even less on a team like the Reds, where if there is one indisputable thing that Dusty Baker is good at, it's working with & handling his hitters. He's very hands on. So on that team, the hitting coach is even more useless.

I've done this many times, and even though I know it won't change anything I still want the guy fired. I don't want to see his face anymore. But that was last year, and the Rays are hitting better, so it most likely had to do with roster construction than anything. They basically had 2 black holes in the lineup and they have filled them this year, so there's less wasted at bats. I still think a hitting coach is important though with how much video footage is used now, and adjustments needing to be made.
