You gotta know that cheating will always be in sports if it isn't greenies its steriods if its not steroids then its HGH, there will always be something that replaces another. All we can do is hope that the testing catches up to the supplements but its extremely difficult an you almost have to except that it will always be something making players better. Plus guys are taking it in high school and college now and there isn't enough testing there, I've seen it done an know its around me but what can you really do. Every guy is competitive and wants to get better so they will do what they have to do
So you findout all the greats have been on roids...

It's still better than Hockey. The past is the past and we can't change that. Roids are a problem in every sport, they are just more harshly viewed upon in baseball. Look what happened with guys like Shawne Merriman. He tested positive and there was a 3 day buzz about it. So one of the best OLB's in the entire NFL gets caught with the roids and we really don't care other than giving him a 4 game suspension. Athletes in all sports are doing it, whether it's in the pros, in college, or even high school. A few kids I went to high school with got caught with steroids and were simply slapped on the wrist. It's everywhere, the MLB just makes a bigger deal out of it.Comment

Originally posted by DET ClutchIn my opinion, steriods in baseball do more than any other sport. Thats why its so big in baseball and not football. Baseball is almost all strenth, with little exceptions. In football, you dont have the be the strongest, or the fastest.
Don't kid yourself.Comment

Brains that apply to baseball, not Senate hearings obviously. Baseball is the most mental major sport in the world.Comment

I think they should make two leagues so we can see some juiced up monsters raking off homers (sounds kinda like the XFL minus the football) then flip the channel and watch a bunch of japs play ball...Last edited by brees fan; 03-31-2009, 09:47 AM.(*)I am a 25 year old pathological liar. There is just no way for the game to be only 10% physical and steroids to have such a huge impact on the game...so basically what you are saying is that steroids make you smarter.Comment

I grew up watching baseball as a kid, starting from eight years old when the Indians went to the World Series. After that if a game was on, I'd watch it. Outside of soccer, baseball was my second favorite sport to play. Going to Indians games ranks pretty high as some of my favorite memories. And watching day-to-day coverage of the Home Run Race between McGuire and Sosa lifted Baseball into the spotlight. And that's where it all fell apart.
No one was talking about steroids in baseball until the sports "awakening". When the sport was reignited by the coverage it was getting then people who sought to make money of the awakening started digging, going on a witch hunt if you will as to "how" are they doing this. And what they found was the Salem of sports. People found out then that EVERYONE apparently was juicing. Then baseball tried to gain back credibility and integrity deciding to put the steroid testing to use. To "clean-up" the sport.
And now a couple years later as the clean-up has been done we find 103 players (correct me if I'm wrong) that tested positive. And A-Rod the sports golden child comes out and says "Hey, I'm one of them." and people don't go and throw him under the bus? They give him a week and a half coverage on ESPN, it's the A-Rod circus and everyone is invited. Baseball will forever be tarnished by the steroid era, however long it may, or may not be. I guess if your a fan of the sport you chose to turn the other cheek, and continue watching anyways, if their names go down in the record book with an asterisk stating "Tested Positive in the Baseball Era". So be it, when the record books are written and the guys without the asterisk stand out, we'll raise them as the real heroes of the sport.25-02, 23:16 Yawkey Way celtics fucking suckComment

I just did a research paper on 'the effect the steroid era had on major league baseballs image'
But anyways yeah its a huge problem because baseball and Bud Selig turned their heads on the subject and ignored it.
