A great way to ensure revenue generation would be to not pay dudes $200 million. They bring in so much money that I don't think you can really attribute a "World Series" run to any substantial increase in revenue at this point.Comment

I tend to defend a lot of FA deals because in reality just about all of them are overpays, and if you don't overpay these guys you simply won't ever get anybody, but this deal can't really be defended.
Also, this:
Reds weren't signing Choo anyway imo, but the point here is thank you Yankees for doing a San Francisco Giants impression and blowing up the market!Comment

What? No.. but he's an above average player that would start on any WS team (cough Red Sox cough)
Yes... winning a title is hard. Winning just ONE in any series of playoff runs makes spending worth it.Comment

Normally I would agree with Jayrock, but not in the case of the Yankees.
If this was the Mariners or Padres or something going all in for a title & spending crazy money, then yes, I think one title justifies it.Comment

Don't they already have an oft-injured speedster outfielder in Brett Gardner for a lot less?Comment

First McCann, then Ellsbury, and now Kelly Johnson. The Yankees' front office is really banking on that short porch to pay dividends on all of these lefty pull hitters.[REDACTED]Comment
