If you take the view that you pay for past performance, which in most cases is true, this isn't a bad deal for either the Tigers or Cabrera. As he gets older, he will need to make sure he keeps his weight under control, but he does have a bat that will age well as a DH.
I don't think any player is worth that money, and TV contracts or not, that is insane to give to any player, especially to someone when they are 40.Comment
