Thank you. Everyone saw the Mets the past two years, the first game means nothing. The friggen Pirates were in first on April 3 last year at 2-1, doesn't mean they won it all. The Yankees have going to be wishy-washy in the fact that they could be very good, even great this season and could make a run at 1st place, or they could bomb this season. It depends on ARod's health because the Yankees cannot afford to lose another big hitter until he is 100%. Doesn't mean they can't win without him, but they are on thin ice without.

Originally posted by GordonDespite what I said earlier, I've been saying all offseason that I think the Yankees were stupid to sign Sabathia. His ERA at Yankee stadium is astronomical, and he didn't really want to go to the Yankees until they offered much more than anybody else. He's obviously not Pavano or Wright, but I don't think they're going to get the dominant pitcher we saw the 2nd half of last year, or even the guy we've seen in Cleveland over the past few years.
I said going into the offseason they should've gone after Teixiera and Lowe. Fortunately for the Yankees, there's no cap, and money is no object so they still got Tex along with 2 of the other top 5 FA's available, but I think Lowe is much more suited for the Yankees than CC or AJ. In essence, I don't think they're gonna get what they paid for from those two. Like I said though, with money being no object, CC is obviously better than Lowe, but I think Yankee fans would be foolish to think they're getting ~3.00 ERA from CC.Comment

CC will be better in his next start, he looked like he was trying to be too fine and wound up walking the park...it's not like they bashed the guy aroundComment

How much they paid isn't a factor....at least not to me....I was more excited about the caliber of pitchers we got in CC and Burnett......how they perform remains to be seen...so far CC didn't do well, but I have a feeling Burnett will do betterComment

Wow, Chodite. Bitter much?
CC and Tex are notorious slow starters. Take it from someone who's had CC on his fantasy team for 5 years... April's never fun. It seemed like CC couldn't get his footing, which could easily screw with the location of a fastball.
Also, there was no way in hell they should've gone for Lowe. Lowe's a groundball pitcher. The Yanks don't have the best IF defense.
Anyone else find it funny that this is on page 5 and no other thread's past page 2?UglyChristmasLights.com - Celebrating 10 years with the 2011 collection!Comment

I see some loser has to 1 star our thread to make herself feel better.
Could it be because your team's jerseys look like used tampons?
Or is it because you've got 19 more to go before you get on our level?
Or did 86 years of tears drive you to the edge and you had to 1 star our thread?
Whoever you are... you are still inferior to us.Comment

He's got a little bigger, but i don't think it's anything to be concerned about. He just couldn't place his fastball, that allowed everyone to sit on breaking balls and tee off on his fastball. He couldn't set up anything. However, C.C. has never been a good April pitcher. He'll turn it around in due time.Comment

Opening day was shitty for a few ace pitchers. CC didn't pitch well, Webb was out in 5, Linchecum (sp?) was out in 4 2/3. None of them had good placement with their pitches and if you don't have good placement you aren't going to go deep in games.
On another note. We have Wang going today. He is a beast and hopefully our team will rally behind him making his first start since getting injured last year.Comment
